(so yes, this proposition of yours, yes. a rattly auburn truck which you drive fearlessly once a week to gather what we do not grow ourselves, your hair still cropped. i nurture a lemon tree; we build a greenhouse just for it to grow. we spend summer nights in a hammock--have you ever shared a hammock? it's impossible to sit apart in one, gravity always pushes two together. fall evenings walking the dogs. winter afternoons with hot water over a fireplace, your hands stained with ink from the press but i still squeeze them as much as possible. dancing in the kitchen in spring mornings, something warm in the oven.)

you have taught me so much already. i want to keep seeing the way your face lightens up each day. take me to the woods.
