Fair weather friends;
@t3dwardtonks from here;
Ted glanced up from his lunchbox at Andromeda’s question before swallowing what he had been chewing and asked, “You mean Professor Camelord? Yeah, I’ve seen her. She got lost when the staircases moved and I happened to be there so I offered to show her the way to her classroom.”
“She seems nice,” he added as he picked out the remaining green peas and moved them to one side. “I really hope she’ll last more than a year…” Ever since he had been a first year, none of the Hogwarts DADA professors had been able to hold their post for more than a year. Rumours were that You-Know-Who had jinxed the position, but nobody really knew why. “Why do you ask? Are you related to her?”
“How gallant,” Andromeda murmured in reply, tossing him a smile in between her sips of pumpkin juice.
She found that she was doing it a lot in his presence. Smiling.
Andromeda couldn’t quite recall when it had started. These impromptu sessions where they would sit and have lunch together. She knew that she had been the one to suggest it by luring him under the pretense of some library book he had borrowed... but found that she enjoyed these quiet lunches with him far more than the conversations shared between the Slytherins.
Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she shook her head in reply towards his next question.
“No… if you ever want to have a look at all of my relations, there is a large tapestry in my aunt’s house,” she informed him with an inscrutable expression. After all, the creation of that tapestry was one of the reasons that Andromeda Black was sitting in an empty classroom with Ted Tonks, instead of with the rest of the Slytherins for lunch.
“I don’t have a lesson with her until next week. I think the Ravenclaws were right about the job… it’s jinxed. Not even Professor Crawley lasted more than a year- and he spoke seven languages!” She could not believe that a thing like a job could be cursed… but then again, her aunt’s most prized possession was a troll’s leg that she used as an umbrella stand.
“Hey... Tonks, what is that on your box?”
