Unnamed Race
During a meeting between Seely and unseely Fae. A group of Fae combined aspects of many reptilian species together.
Chameleon for the beauty of colors that changed as the seasons. Hydra since they would lend the form of these new people stability while maintaining a degree of malleability. Dragons would lend an inherent magic to the new race, as well as allowing the form to shift more purposefully than that of a chameleon or hydra. Snakes were added for their grace and guile and the venomous qualities were an added bonus. These disparate elements were combined with just a touch of Naga, to cement their place as both Shapeshifters and humanoid beings.
After looking upon their creation the Unseely sought to use them to aquire more power for themselves and the Seely used them to try to wrest that power back. 40,000 of these people were created and easily 10,000 lost their lives in this war. Thousands more died as they decided to escape this Aethereal realm they were born into.
Seeking freedom they broke the bonds of as many of their fellow men and women as they could and fled to the Material Realm. Once there they fled to the far corners of the globe, using their ability to change shape unto similarly sized beings to hide amongst the peoples of the world.
They escaped their Fae masters and found hidden homes. Over the ensuing millennia they have continued their lines in secret. Some choosing mastery over magic, some seeking to learn of faith, still others motivated by only themselves and what is theirs; but all driven to freedom and finding their place.
