Edwin/Charles — Shared amnesia curse

At some point earlier in their partnership, Charles and Edwin accepted a case involving a powerful magic user they ultimately defeated and sent to Hell. They'd been slowly falling in love for years by then, and finally got together.

The magic user noticed, and just before Hell grabbed them, they cursed Charles and Edwin to forget they ever fell in love, and to forget every time they fall in love. Every year or two, Charles & Edwin realize their romantic feelings for each other, and as soon as they act on their feelings, they both forget.

Crystal joining the agency means that for the first time, someone is close enough to the boys to notice all this. As soon as Charles admits his feelings for Edwin, both of them forget the stairway confession in Hell and the reciprocation and go back to being repressed best friends. Crystal, who's been listening to Charles hash out his feelings for weeks, knows this is fucked up, and sets out to fix it.

+ Crystal enlists a very confused and skeptical Edwin to break the curse. ++ They regain all the lost memories. +++ Charles fell first the first time. ++++ Charles senses the curse somehow, so every time they go through the cycle, he resists his feelings more, because on some level he knows giving in will cause them to reset. +++++ Niko's back; she can't miss watching them fall in love twice!

Charles/Edwin — Accidental Telepathy

Charles touches a cursed object that allows him to hear Edwin's thoughts. At first he was going to tell Edwin immediately, but then he hears the loving things Edwin thinks about him, and he just wants to listen for a few days because he's never heard someone "say" things like that about him.

Some situations to consider: + During downtime between cases, Charles gets fidgety and worries hes annoying Edwin because he just can't sit still but then Edwin thinks Charles is endearing. + Charles messes up somehow or breaks something and panics (Mr. Rowland's A+ Parenting), and Edwin's first and only thoughts are to make sure Charles is okay. + Charles gets jealous after someone hits on Edwin, and Edwin gets flustered about how Charles is acting and has no thoughts about the other person beyond them being a mild annoyance.

Edwin/Charles — Monty and Charles swap bodies

Due to some sort of a spell, Monty and Charles swap bodies.

The catch? It's crow form Monty.

Now Charles is trapped as a bird and stuck as Esther's familiar, with no way to tell Edwin. And Monty? Monty sees it as a chance to finally get free of the situation he's been trapped in, so he pretends to be Charles.

Eventually Edwin pieces the clues together, figures out what's happened, and comes to the rescue. Would prefer if the boys can help Monty go free, when all is said and done. No birb left behind!

Charles somehow gets his hands on a camera that can take photos of ghosts, and his favourite subject to capture on film quickly becomes Edwin.

Edwin/Charles — Charles gets cursed with a truth spell

Charles gets cursed with a truth serum + lack of inhibitions somehow, so whatever he thinks just comes tumbling out of his mouth.

And maybe parts of it are sweet (unintended love confession, maybe?) but a lot of it is heartbreaking, because all those self-deprecating thoughts he's usually so good at hiding tumble right out into the open. Edwin realizes exactly how little he thinks of himself, and has to reassure Charles that he's none of the things he's afraid he is.

Edwin/Charles — Ghost emotions generate magic power

Why would only ghost pain produce magic power? After Esther, the agency encounters another magician who's realized any strong emotion from a ghost generates magical energy.

They capture Charles and Edwin and manipulate them into big feelings. It's like sessions with the world's worst therapist, as the magician drags out all their traumas and longings to exploit for emotional reactions. The magician plays them against each other, and their fears, frustration and anger over the situation just make their captor stronger.

Edwin finally works out how to siphon some of the power and use it to escape, but it's going to take massive emotions to generate enough... so Charles kisses Edwin. They sneak makeout sessions to gather enough energy to get out; Edwin feels awful that Charles has to go this far to free them, while Charles's feelings realization is charging the battery like crazy...

Edwin/Charles — Charles tries to disenchant Edwin from being in love with him

Trying to figure out his own feelings, Charles asks Edwin how he knew he was in love. Edwin explains that he'd been confused until Monty told him his feelings were for Charles, and then everything made sense.

Charles has doubts. Monty, a witch's familiar, said something to Edwin and suddenly after 34 years, Edwin "fell in love" with Charles? Monty was trying to snare Edwin; he must have miscast a love spell so that it made Edwin love Charles instead.

So Charles tries every counter-spell he can find to disenchant Edwin. It gets harder every time as his own feelings grow more undeniable, but he can't be selfish about this, he has to set Edwin free.

Edwin/Charles — Edwin gets cursed to hurt others with his words; Charles thinks it's a truth spell

For whatever reason, Edwin gets hit with a curse. Something about the location or the book they found it in makes Charles sure it's a truth curse.

It's not, though. It's a spell designed to make the cursed party wound others with his words, and Edwin tells Charles all of the things he's always feared that Edwin was thinking.

They figure it out in the end, along with the secret to what the spell really does, and the boys kiss (and hug, and have sweet sweet comfort sex if the filler so chooses) and make up.
