Sideways Author: CrissColferL0ve Rating: NC17 Word count: 200k+ Summary: Blaine is the most popular kid at school, he’s also a bully. Kurt is the new kid and the victim of the football team, but bullying somebody doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t end up liking them, even if you try your best not to.
This fic. THIS FIC. This honestly must've been the 15th time (no exaggeration) that I've reread it. Honestly, it never gets old.
Blaine's internal struggle physically hurts to read. All he wants to do is love Kurt (when he eventually accepts it - spoilers!) but everyone expects so much from him that it's a long journey before he gets there. He's written so wonderfully that you want to bash him around the head half the time and wrap him up and protect him the other half.
Another thing that is done so well is the angst. I've probably lost litres of water crying over this fic - particularly the last third. Wow, angst central. Both boys are so silly. None of the angst feels forced - tears for the sake of drama, all the reasoning behind it works so well.
Some of my favourite moments in Klaine fanfiction ever come from this fic - especially my favourite nickname: 'Pretty boy'. It’s truly an iconic fic in the fandon for all the right reasons. It tells the story of self discovery, incorrect first impressions and relearning everything you know.
Under Your Spell(ing) Author: notthetoothfairy Rating: PG13 Word count: 20k Summary: Emotionally isolated skank!Kurt approaches Blaine at a church youth group meeting, and somehow ends up with more feelings than he can handle.
Fade To Black Author: JudeAraya Rating: NC17 Word count: 29k Summary: Written for this prompt on the Kink Meme. When Kurt and Blaine first start being intimate with each other, the sex is good...but not great. Kurt, despite all of the progress he has made, is still embarrassed to talk about what he wants in bed. Blaine really loves to do well and gain approval, and he feels like he's not satisfying Kurt because he doesn't know what Kurt wants. So, the boys devise a plan to develop their communication skills. Follows Kurt and Blaine through cannon as they explore intimacy and love (The First Time through Yes/No)

Trapped In Amber Author: happylittlebumblebee Rating: NC17 Word count: 100k+ Summary: Kurt is drifting through his senior year of high school; he bothers no-one, and finally no-one bothers him. In the four years since his mother’s death when he was thirteen years old, Kurt and his father have become strangers living in the same house. Until one day an overly-enthusiastic transfer student from some private school is asking him for directions, and his father brings home the mother of his once-tormentor.
Well, just finished re-reading. God this fic, this fic! It’s go literally everything you want from a Skank!Kurt au - the angsty backstory, the strained relationship with his father and glee club, the defensive emotional walls. In walks Blaine Anderson who knocks them all down (not without a lot of effort). The love between the two boys makes me heart ache, they make it so complicated to be with one another yet it’s so so simple. The lack of communication, as with canon Klaine, is a constant issue.
Kurt’s characterisation is perfectly on point, the entire skank persona is so believable with the way happylittlebumblebee has written it. This is extremely uncommon with skank aus as they are particularly difficult to capture in a way that feels true to the character. Kurt’s been hurt constantly and still grieves his mother’s death which plagues his every thought - I just want to wrap him up and help him move on. This presents a lot of problems that I, as a reader, eagerly load the next chapter to see the solution.
As with many fics I love, there is nothing more I wish than for this fic to be a verse. I would love to read about their adventures once they finally end up in New York together. But alas, that’s not going to happen.
Endland Author: Seeroftodayandtomorrow Rating: NC17 Word count: 42k Summary: Apocalypse AU. Kurt is a prostitute, jaded from the way his world fell apart. Blaine is a policeman, trying to maintain some kind of order in the midst of chaos. When Kurt discovers something that may cost him his life, he wants to pay Blaine for his protection - in the way he usually does. But as, once again, everything crashes around them, he soon discovers that sex with Blaine can never be just a business transaction.
Still Looking at The Road We Never Drove On Author: klaineanummel Rating: PG13 Word count: 39k Summary: Kurt Hummel’s life isn’t going how he planned. He just lost his job, his kids want nothing to do with him, and his husband just kicked him out and is filing for a divorce. If only he could go back and do it all over again...
