Acing Arduino!

In a tale from the maker trenches, our TAB editor’s son decided to build one of the trickier projects from Simon Monk’s 15 Dangerously Mad Projects for the Evil Genius for his final physics-class project (pictured above)!

Taken from Chapter 13, Magnetic Levitation Device, he programmed an Arduino to make adjustments to the magnetic field coming from the coil at the top of the frame. Two sensors on the side of the frame tell the Arduino where the ping pong ball is, and the magnetic field continually gets stronger or weaker to keep the ball suspended in the air. How cool! We’re thinking he’s going to get an A on this one!

Joytone: New Instrument Using Raspberry Pi!

Joytone (pictured above), isn't your every day instrument. Inventor of Joytone, Dave Sharples, used Raspberry Pi to create this new instrumental machine. The keys are run through a Rapberry Pi which handles the audio libraries. Scrabble-Playing Robot With Attitude

Carnegie Mellon University has a robot named Victor who not only plays scrabble, but talks trash. This is the CMU Robotics Institute's attempt at making robots that are more human.
