The Kambal Headcanons

(how you met + how he fell for you + how he asks you out) 

AKA i'm a simp but i am too lazy to write a full fic rn so have this (i only have anime knowledge so comic readers bear with me)

Basilio:

— okay, so like

— you're amie's youngest sibling

— you take on a more western slang than them because you're on the internet for long periods of time

— you don't like the races because they are loud and annoying

— but despite your differences with your sister, you love each other a lot and would kill for each other

— that said, you met basilio when he had that messy family reunion with his father

— ofc datu talagbusao kicked your ass ('di ka si alexandra trese bestie) but you still put up a good fight and you were hella sexy doing so (at least basilio the simp thought so) 

— he was legitimately like: 😮

— he follows you around like a lost puppy and you're just like "?????? leave me alone i'm not interested" 

— basilio, "i know u're not but i certainly am" 

— alexandra is as tired as you honestly, but she's secretly rooting for him

— crispin is just clowning him everytime you shoot basilio down

— your sister is constantly teasing you

— "i thought you were gonna be a virgin for life pa naman!" 

— you just walk away while she and hannah giggle to each other and they don't notice you

— although you'd never admit to it, you do kind of find basilio cute, and, well, charming

— but you get attached too easily, and you wouldn't want to catch feelings when you know it's gonna be temporary

— and, well, you have a lot of insecurities (self hatred) in you so you kind of assume that if he gets to know you better he'll just get turned off and scared away

— but you're actually amazing and it honestly does the opposite

— he actually goes from "wow so sexy please bed me" to "wow so sexy please marry me" 

— and when he comes to your house with your favorite flowers (they're plastic, he says it's because it would be like you, always beautiful and never wilting, but it's actually because he was scared there was a chance you'd be allergic), and he says that he's going to court you, and you're like, "😧😦😳" 

— and your sister and her friend are incessantly giggling behind you, and they usher basilio in, talking about how he has their blessing in wooing their sibling, as long as he doesn't break your heart, or else they'll break his family jewels. 

— that last part was said sweetly, and so casually, that it made you laugh, and made basilio sweat drop. 

— but despite the nervousness he felt after your sister and hannah gave him the shovel talk, he still managed to give you a sweet, mischievous grin

— and if your heart fluttered and your stomach dipped, well, that's a secret only for you to know. 

Crispin:

— here, u're like, ibu's child

— a successor, of sorts

— meaning you're a demigod, like crispin 

— your powers sort of work like,, you're a living death note

— you can will people to die,, but it's very limited since you're only half a god 

— your mother lets you wander the human world normally, never speaking to you personally, only through her emissary

— that said, you've always known the trese trio

— you've been friends with them for like, forever, and you have been pining for crispin just as long

— (dw bestie, the tags r "childhood friends to lovers", "feelings realization" and "mutual pining") 

— it all started when alex's mother died, you greeted her as a new friend, which is honestly quite ironic

— but you are opposites, yet so similar, so your conversations are always stimulating and interesting

— you visit the day the kambal are fostered into their homes, and you can already feel the presence of the half immortal children

— you step in cautiously and immediately a body is slammed into you

— it was crispin, after just being bodily thrown by his brother, basilio

— you were lowkey pissed, as you'd dived right into the mud, and you were about to cuss at them when you heard tito anton's voice, and immediately calmed yourself down. 

— crispin was already cussing at basilio, and didnt stop at tito anton's entrance, and was about to jump at his brother viciously, before you clamped your hand down at his shoulder to stop him, using every bit of your godly strength

— and when crispin realized you're like him he looks at you, all elated, curious, and surprised. 

— you flush under the attention, and instead of lunging for his brother, crispin bombards you with questions, and tito anton realizes he no longer needs to interfere, as you try to answer every question both of the twins bombard you with now

— years later, after alex exits balete tree, you've long since known that you felt something for crispin. basilio knows, too, and you made him swear not to tell or else he'll face the wrath of goddess ibu's only daughter

— but crispin is still crispin, and he doesnt know about your feelings, or his own. 

— it isn't until you nearly melt in a puddle of jealousy as one of the wind spirits beds crispin that you feel that it's all kinda hopeless

— you get out and party with the wind spirits, 'cause they are pretty cool gals (haha no,,, you dont have a puppy crush on them, you tell yourself, you know, like a liar) 

— and once they realize that oh, you're drinking cause of crispin. they do their best to make you forget about it, as an apology (even though they didnt need to—you still deserved it, falling in love with an idiot and all) 

— and this is where shit hits the fan, 'cause you wake up with a splitting head ache, naked and a man in your be—

— oh fuck, you're naked with a man in your bed

— you check your body—bruises, soreness, and—and—

— oh, tangina. now someone's knocking at your door, who the fuck could be here at such an early—it's 12 pm in the afternoon

— you let out a small whine of protest, before grabbing the nearest shirt, and some underwear and shirts, and open the door to your apartment. 

— "oh hi alex, basilio, crispin."

— but theyre all just looking at you. alex in fleeting surprise, but she ultimately just accepts it, basilio looks like he's about to split his face with how big his shit-eating grin is, and crispin looks constipated. 

— (he'd just been slapped in the head by alex the previous night about him realizing his feelings for you. and—and how you feel the same way. but—you're, you have hickeys on your neck, and you smell different, and he's gonna kill someone right now) 

— you realize your situation, and you immediately explain yourself. a party, being black out drunk, and only remembering bits and parts. 

— crispin feels searing anger, alex looks agitated, and basilio has his brows furrowed. 

— she knows immediately what theyre thinking about, and she reassures them that she could still remember giving her permission, and the person was black out drunk as well. there were discarded condoms in the trash can, too

— they all feel reassured, except for crispin. he still wants to punch the guy in the face. maybe kill him—he doesnt know, but then the guy enters, and he nearly stands up and commits a crime

— but then a familiar hand, and familiar strength was on his shoulder, just as fast as he was. calm down, your face seemed to say, so he did. 

— the guy stands awkwardly at so many people staring at him (and the one murderous pair of black eyes), saying a goodbye, before going out. 

— alex and (after some rough convincing from the former) basilio left to give crispin and you some space to talk, and talk you two did. 

— there are tears, confessions, makeouts, sucking over the hickeys you were given and making them larger—

— yeah, you get the gist.

As an avid fan of crime mystery series, Trese is worth watching. Really enjoyed the show, especially the fight scenes, and every time there are new cases involving mythical creatures.

Watched the whole series with Filipino audio. I tried switching to different languages from time to time to see the difference. Well, the JP dub is always top tier. The Eng dub was also great.

Medyo nakukulangan lang ako sa voice acting ni Liza, but it's okay, I know may room for improvement naman. Considering that she's new to voice acting and she's not used to speaking in Filipino. As for the other voice actors, they did an exceptional job!

I hope that next time if producers will have local animation projects, they will cast professional voice actors because that is their realm where they can shine. TV actors already have their teleseryes and films.

However, given the fact that the Philippine Animation Industry is just starting, animation studios have to cast celebrities to boost the popularity of a particular show. More support from the fans equals more money, hence, there would be enough funds for the production team. Animation projects are hard, takes a lot of time, and are expensive to make.

For me, it's okay to cast celebs for voice acting naman eh, as long as they fit the role. The quality of the performance goes hand in hand with directing rin naman.

I hope nga lang in the future, they would give chance to professional VA's. Ang daming magagaling na hindi nabigyan ng opurtunidad na maipakita ang kanilang talento.

On the other hand, the storyline, character design, ost's, animation, and visuals are really good considering that this is the first Netflix anime series from the Philippines.

Thanks to the creators of Trese, Kajo Baldisimo (artist) & Budjette Tan (writer), as well as to the production team behind the anime adaption who brought the story to life. I'm glad it is now released on the global streaming platform because the story can reach a wider audience.

I badly want to read the original comics because I'm so hooked sa story. I'm currently at the edge of my seat and wondering what would happen next to team Trese after episode 6. I've seen some tidbits from the comics. The art by Kajo is astounding! How I wish I could buy them all. As of now, Trese is still ongoing and has 7 volumes with 30+ cases.

We grew up hearing different stories about aswangs, tikbalang, tiyanak, kapre, duwendes/nuno sa punso, etc. from our parents and grandparents. It was great to know that we have such amazing and fascinating mythology that has been passed down from generation to generation by our ancestors that made our culture rich.

I'm also grateful that Filipino folklore has inspired brilliant writers and artists to create masterpieces. Hoping to see more animated series from local comics!

My favs from the series are, of course, the kambal —Crispin and Basilio! I love their character design and personality. They balanced the mood for the team and the whole series. A little humor amidst the dark, thrilling, and suspense that was going on around them. If Basilio will tie his hair into a man bun further in the series, then ohmygaadd that would be so freaking cool! (and many viewers will simp for him more lol) 

The end credits scene seems like hyping for the next season. Hoping for Season 2!

The flaw in Liza's voice acting is not that big deal to me since she can improve pa naman. The storyline itself piqued my interest, so overall I would give it a 🌟: 10/10

PS. I wish they would make a giant ChocNut bar. It's my childhood fav! When you happen to pass by a manhole, just bribe Nuno with ChocNut then voila! you can ask him for life advice but first, don’t forget to say “Tabi tabi po” or else mamalasin ka sa lab layf mo lol
