my favorite brand of April Fools joke is when a game dev or other company puts out a teaser or something with a premise so outlandish you gradually realize "oh. they're entirely serious. this is actually going to be a thing." -Sega's "we're doing what the fans have asked us to do for years" bit -"we're making a fantasy spinoff of an idol anime based entirely on one character's chuuni delusions. there's going to be a tie-in game. The Mega Man Zero devs are making it." -"here's a 3-page teaser for the silly evil mirror universe of Transformers. surely this won't become a thing the fans crave so much it becomes its own subseries that ends up so massive that Studio TRIGGER is subtly referencing it a decade from now"
