Clan Multi-Missile Launcher

Developed by Clan Sea Fox in 3147 as an upgrade to Spheroid MML launchers, the Clan MML serves much the same function as the original model, but leverages Clan materials science and innovations to reduce the weight and bulk of the original systems, similar to Clan LRM and SRM launchers. Clan Sea Fox also introduced several larger variations with more launch tubes than Spheroid MML offerings. Like Clan LRMs, the Clan MML has no minimum range when using LRM munitions, and are capable of using all specialty munitions available to LRM and SRM launchers. Clan MMLs are compatible with Artemis IV and Artemis V fire control systems.

Using a RISC APDS for targeting incoming missiles as well as a heavily reconfigured ECM package, this "little devil" as described by the designer, uses an ECM pulse similar to a "Nemesis" iNarc missile pod, redirecting as many guided missiles in a cluster to the closest enemy target to the firing unit.

Target missiles as per RISC APDS. Instead of expending ammunition to shoot down missiles, target the closest enemy mech. Redirect all enemy missiles "countered" to the target. If any missiles in flight towards the enemy miss, target the nearest mech with the remaining missiles as per Swarm-I missile rules.

Angel Element: Mid-flight deployment during reentry. Break away from DropShip wing and proceed north towards SWMC Alpha / Bravo. Neutralize any active enemy air elements en route, conduct bombing run against primary capital-class AA targets to secure near-orbital space.

After-Action Report:

SWMC Alpha and SWMC Bravo lances made planetfall on schedule into a curtain of enemy anti-aircraft fire. No casualties on descent. One Drop Pod struck by LRM surface artillery, but damage minimal. OpFor presence at installations limited to a single Level II armored formation at the target. Armor engaged and Anti-Air defense infrastructure targeted at distance. SWMC Forces continued to engage for several hours following the initial drop. Both lances suffered moderate damage, leaving Alpha 2 and 3, and Bravo 3, 4 and 5 below standard performance. Anti-Aircraft Missile batteries targeted with ARAD LRM fire, opening nearby airspace for CFRI Angel Squadron. CFRI 2nd Company Alpha Lance Swept a one-klick radius of LZ for enemy contacts. Two targets neutralized, returned to secure the site for the second drop wave. Surveillance equipment noted a significant increase in encrypted traffic over local networks and a concerningly large heat signature originating ~200 klicks southwest- request OPSCOM pass this along to CENTCOM and relay any available intelligence.  Engaged and Destroyed: 2x Hi-Scout Cunningham

CFRI Angel Element deployed during drop and made for targets at full afterburners. Contacts en route did not delay element arrival to the AO. Successful operations by SWMC Alpha and SWMC Bravo resulted in minimal close AA support. Angel-4 and Angel-5 scored hits against enemy command and control structures. Arrow-IV Anti-Ship Missiles launched from Angel-6 achieved confirmed kills on target “MADELEINE” for primary objective success. Description: Created by the Republic of the Sphere out of a desire to consolidate and replace multiple legacy models of heavy machine gun in use by the Republic Armed Forces. Designed by the engineers of Republic Small Arms Factory Enfield in England, using highly advanced polymer and Clan copper construction techniques, the MG-206 is technically man-portable and—thanks to advanced recoil mitigation technology—even firable controllably from the shoulder. However, without the use of a gyro-stabilization harness, doing so for long periods is not comfortable.

Firing the same 12.5mm rounds common to the M100 machine gun on the Phoenix Hawk and standardized across the RAF, the MG-206 features a semi-automatic fire mode (though this is seldom used in the field) along with a trio of fully-automatic modes featured differing rates of fire for different applications. The 450 round per minute "Automatic - Slow" setting is intended for use against infantry at long range — the reduced recoil from the weapon's deployable bipod combines with the low fire rate to allow more accurate shooting, and the reduced rate of ammunition consumption allows for longer strings of suppressive fire. The 600 round per minute "Automatic - Normal" setting is intended for the widest range of applications, and is the standard rate of fire. The final setting is "Automatic - Rapid" at 750 rounds per minute. This setting is intended for anti-'Mech fire and situations in which the maximum amount of suppression is required.

Introduced in 3106, the MG-206 became standard in Republic Armed Forces squads by 3110, and quickly developed a fierce reputation in exercises: in 3108, two infantry platoons of the X Principes Guards managed to use ambush tactics alongside their support squad's assigned pairs of MG-206s to knock out Phantom, Exarch Stone's personal Atlas II, during field exercises — the use of massed (simulated) Inferno SRM fire and expanding foam rounds in immobilizing the Exarch went unremarked upon, largely due to the latter weapon still being classified at the time. The Exarch's impression of the MG-206 was highly positive in the wake of this incident, and soon after, every infantry maneuver squad in the regular Republic Armed Forces would have an MG-206 in their ranks. The support squads of every infantry platoon would also see a third MG-206 added to their TO&E, for a total of six such weapons available per platoon. It took little time after this organizational change for the MG-206 to earn its most enduring nickname: "the Razorback". The nickname, shared with the feral hogs of Terra's North American continent, referenced the MG-206's combination of massive bulk, sheer ruggedness, and destructive power.

The MG-206 would go on to prove its worth during the Capellan Crusades, and would serve with the Republic through the Dark Age until the fall of the Republic in 3151. Alongside most standard Republic Armed Forces weapons, the MG-206 would find a new place within the toumans of Clans Wolf, Jade Falcon, and (to a lesser extent) Smoke Jaguar.

The weapon's most prominent new home, however, would be within the new Star League Defense Force. Here the MG-206 was once again part of the standard infantry squad — though the universal use of the Nighthawk PA(L) across the entire infantry arm (post-3153) would render many of the complaints over the weight and bulk of the old "Razorback" largely moot.

The 720 round per minute "Automatic - Slow" setting is intended for use in situations where ammunition conservation is required, or in long-range engagements where a lower rate of fire translates to less recoil and higher accuracy. The 840 round per minute "Automatic - Normal" setting is intended for the widest range of applications, and is the standard rate of fire. The final setting is "Automatic - Rapid" at 1150 rounds per minute. This setting is primarily intended for defensive situations in which the maximum amount of suppression is required.

Introduced in 3105, the MG-105 became standard in the Republic Armed Forces by 3110. Used as a light machine gun/squad automatic weapon, it saw much use in light infantry, jump infantry, and special forces units. An early prototype of the weapon included a dual feed system, though this was dropped prior to production — except for the Special Forces ("SF") variant, which included many internal components made of Clan memory metal, allowing it to rapidly adapt "on the fly" to chamber the standard assault rifle cartridges of all other Inner Sphere powers, and many calibers popular with civilians.

The MG-105 became a potent symbol of the Republic, especially the SF variant, which was often seen in the hands of the infantry components of Stone's Lament on parade and in the field. It was also distributed to planetary militia forces, and thus many MG-105s ended up in the armories of various Successor States after the activation of Fortress Republic and the annexation of most Republic territory outside The Wall.

The MG-105 would serve with the Republic before and during the Dark Age. Like the other "New Millennium" weapons, it would find its largest of new homes among the Third Star League's SLDF, who again chose the MG-105 to arm jump and light infantry formations with supporting firepower.

Introduced in 3103, the MG-403 became standard in the Republic Armed Forces by 3110. Used as a general purpose machine gun, it became the most widely produced of the trio of "New Milennium" machine guns. Despite it's ubiquity, the MG-403 was largely overshadowed in RAF infantry service (and especially in popular culture) by the MG-206 heavy machine gun — in no small part to the direct favor placed upon the latter weapon by Exarch Stone. However, the MG-403 would become a frequent sight in holovids and actual unit TO&Es, largely due to its lighter weight and ease of use compared to the MG-206 — indeed, many unit commanders would authorize the MG-403 as a substitute weapon for the MG-206 in their maneuver squads. In 3131, the weapon was officially promoted to the primary squad support machine gun of RAF jump and motorized infantry formations, who lacked dedicated support squads, but still required a heavier support weapon than the 5.5x50mm MG-105.

The MG-403 was nicknamed "Eva" by RAF troops, after holovid star and singer Eva Hoffmann. According to most semi-official sources, this was due to the sound of the gun "going cyclic" being "as beautiful as her voice" — unofficially, the nickname was a reference to the heavy nature and double drum shape of the weapon's 250 round belt box and its resemblance to several of Eva's physical features.

The MG-403 would serve with the Republic through the early prosperous years of the 32nd Century, through the Dark Age, and would even become a (covert) export success for the Republic, showing up in arms shipments to the Federated Suns, Draconis Combine, and Lyran Commonwealth. Ultimately, the weapon would ultimately outlast the government that created it — via its export customers, as well as Republic holdout groups, the toumans of many of the Spheroid Clans, and the new Star League, whose new SLDF adopted the weapon in the same roles as the RAF, even making the use of it in maneuver squads standard doctrine, replacing the MG-206 in that role.
