It's hard to tell allies from foes at times- especially in this case. As far as Quirinus knew, Koyanskaya had ... a history with Chaldea- and from how it sounded, it wasn't particularly good. He also knew that somewhere along the line, there was some sort of "the enemy of my enemy is someone I don't have to kill right now" mentality ⎛ and it reminded him of Caenis, he was well aware of what had happened with the Director, with the Black Barrel- they had fought well before his arrival, and they would continue to fight well even when he was gone ⎠
❝ I wonder if I should be surprised to see you here. ❞
Maybe he should be surprised that he lacks the urge to battle her on sight. A Beast was a Beast and his purpose as a Grand servant was to be a Beast-slayer-
But he's not Grand Lancer anymore. Certainly not as he is now. There's something freeing about that. There's a part of him that likes looking at her and seeing the remnants of a Beast, because somewhere in there, she's a fox.
A fox and a wolf weren't so different, were they?
❝ There are more familiar faces here than I would have thought. Has this world entertained you? ❞
