I've been searching for the blank version of this chart for what feels like ages (it can be found here! for anyone else looking) I thought this would be cute to do though :3c
Some (very loose) reasoning for each character under the cut! (beware, very long text!):
A side note: I think Gambit can find any number of reasons to like other people, but I think she much more rarely genuinely considers others a friend. Her standard for friendship is, perhaps, extremely high versus other people's perfectly normal standard. That being said, I've labeled those she TREATS like friends as friends (using teal) but if asked directly, I think she'd waffle/try to wander around answering- prefers to say yes without actually saying yes. (This does come back to bite her im certain lmao)
On Caine: Obviously she's going to get into the good graces of the guy in charge, that's just good practice in her mind! At first that's all it is but... she's been here too long and she's kind of attached to his goofy ass now. Tbf, Gambit ALSO likes attention and performance and showmanship... so they get on great on the surface but... well. Her deeper feelings are complicated... Also she's still a teeny bit scared of him, too. Like what I would call a healthy amount of acknowledgement due to the inherent power imbalance here and the dissonance between her being human/him being non-human. But fear has never stopped her from doing crazy, probably ill-advised, nonsense before!
I don't think Caine can really conceptualize what he's feeling (much less what Gambit is willing and able to explain) but at least this time it's a positive uhh... glitch? (emotion. lovie you are having emotions)... ykwim? Definitely plays into it to Gambit's benefit bc he craves her positve attention.
On Bubble: They're largely neutral to each other. They DO spend a lot of time together just because Gambit is also always hanging around Caine though.
On Jax: I don't think she hates him. She tolerates him and dislikes him generally, but doesn't really give him the time of day beyond that. However, I think he hates her a little for how effortlessly she seems to be able to exist here... also the fact he can't get a consistant rise out of her & she mostly just gives him nothing... it's boring to him.
On Ragatha: I think they have more in common than not once they actually get to interact. They both, in the MOST basic sense, like to make people happy and want to avoid people hating them/negative attention. For the same reasons? No, but they understand the other & sympathize to some degree. They also both have that "nobody really knows how genuine they are" problem, except Gambit has the confidence to pull it off a lot more seamlessly (haha stitching joke). They're some of the friendliest of the group and get on well because of it, they hang out frequently outside of the adventures.
Also, okay so the crush part is I think Ragatha is the first one Gambit opens up to even a little bit genuinely (by... accident/lucky circumstances mostly. It could have easily been Pomni or Gangle who caught her out), and that makes Ragatha feel like.... really.... special. So she starts to kind of read into Gambit's attention towards her ike it means something more than it did before- like it's suddenly more real and genuine than how she treats/interacts with Gangle or Pomni (and Gambit does like Ragatha, don't get me wrong! Just... not more than anyone else, if that makes sense? Less than Caine, maybe, bc gun to her head she'd pick Caine since she's trapped in HIS world obviously. But the point is at the very least Gambit does not like Ragatha MORE because Rags saw her lose her cool once (1 time))
On Kinger: They're cool with each other. I think Gambit sleeps in his fort sometimes and likes to listen to him ramble, whether on the off time or during an adventure. He hasn't been able to really REACH her insofar though. Hope he can before she explodes into 1 thousand eyes.
On Gangle: They have the most quiet hang out time together- Gambit has some artistry in her so they doodle together & she's nice to her. She's also surprisingly gentle with Gangle. Also, Gambit won't speak up for Gangle in the way Zooble does (bc God forbid Gambit speak her mind), but she's present as someone to lean on (or hide behind).
On Zooble: They're chill. They have like this opposite approach to existance so they don't talk very much- and if they did I doubt they'd actually find much common ground. I think Zooble is a teeny bit fearful of Gambit owing to her abnormally close relationship with Caine & not being able to tell how genuine Gambit is at any given point in time.
On Pomni: They're still fairly new to each other but I definitely don't see any reason they wouldn't get along. Both have a bit of thrill seeking tendency that they can play off of... Perhaps Pomni would be a little unnerved by her at first but in the end they find common ground in wanting to like... survive & thrive.
