"ALICE" by "PEGGY" fits Egg way too well, so I've come to rant about it
let it be known, all these facts about Egg's lore existed BEFORE I discovered this song.
Part of Egg's lore is that she was the first playtester, being the daughter of the game's creator.
"Woke up in a haze, nothing on her brain
full of empty smiles
They'll say, "Sit and stay a while""
Upon first putting the headset on, no one is aware that anything has gone wrong. she's chillin, experiencing the game. Caine shows up, and greets her.
"Her head up in the clouds
where has she gone now?
Then Alice took a fall into the rabbit hole
So the story goes"
Something or other goes wrong with the game, and Egg is trapped in the game. She's put into a coma by the program.
"Alice, Alice, heart and soul, fell into a rabbit hole"
The game was based on things her father thought she'd like.
"Dreamers dream until they don't,
Lost her mind a while ago"
Egg gets upset because she wants to leave but can't, and Caine soon finds that when Egg is under mental duress, she glitches, and so does the circus around her, which is implied to cause stress on her body in real life.
"Alice Alice, don't you know?
Wonderland was all a hoax
Made it all up so she could cope
Madder than a hatter, Alice broke."
Caine begins the daily adventures to keep Egg distracted so that she stays sane and, you know, alive. Slowly but surely Egg gets used to her new life, and so too starts forgetting who she was before.
"Alice stayed at home, losing track of time
Staring at the ceiling, she escaped into her mind"
Egg has been in the circus for years, and she forgets how long she's been there. It's implied she's been at the hospital in a coma this whole time.
"Like the Cheshire Cat, the ceiling fades to black
And in her mind, she'll drown
As the chased the rabbit down, down, down"
Her memories are faded, and she's trying to remember who she used to be (she's the white rabbit in question), with Caine as her only anchor to reality anymore (Caine also doubles as the white rabbit, her chasing him down for answers)
is Caine slowly losing his grip on her, as she falls further into grief and confusion (she knows she has a father, but doesn't know why he hasn't come for her yet) and he desperately tries to keep her in one piece.

Egg eventually abstracts, but retains at least some semblance of h herself, being a far tamer abstracted. She still recognizes Caine, and longs for comfort, but doesn't have much left to her beyond that. Being the only one who can touch her without getting corrupted, Caine keeps her hidden in the code away from the others and just holds her sometimes, knowing it helps her feel better.
This song fits her WAY TOO WELL help and now I have to change her name from Lucy to Alice... does Lucy count as a nickname for Alice??? maybe one of them will be a middle name
