Taemin and Victoria please ;)
Surprised is not even a strong enough word to describe what he felt when the Chinese woman came knocking at his door. They weren’t strangers but she wasn’t as close to him as she was with Minho thus his shock at her appearance before him.
“I’m really sorry, Taemin.” Victoria says seeing his reaction to her. “There’s no one I can think of to help me with this problem but you.”
The younger, though still clueless as to what the woman would need help with, allowed her to enter his humble home. He lead her towards the living room and directed her towards the couch.
“Would you like anything to drink? Water? Juice? Cola?” he asks, being a hospitable host to his guest.
Victoria shook her head. “I’m fine. I don’t want to impose to you anymore than I already am.”
Taemin shook his head as he took as seat beside the older woman. “You’re not imposing at all, noona. It’s fine.”
“I’m sorry for barging into you like this. I can see from the way you looked at me that you weren’t expecting me see me at all.” she bows. “There’s something really bothering me and only comes into mind that may be able to help me. ”
The youngest of the SHINee boys was confused. Of course, Victoria was a noona that he would always help when needed but for the life of him, he couldn’t think of anything that the woman could ask him for help with.
“Of course, noona. What is it?”
“How did you do it? Improving your vocals so much in such a short matter of time?” she asks, head down as if in shame. “It’s been years since I came here. I understand that I don’t have the best voice and my accent sounds awkward in songs but why haven’t improved at all. I just keep on falling behind. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it that I’m just not good enough?”
Taemin looked thoughtful for a moment. He understood where the where the woman was coming from. He too once felt that he was inadequate, falling behind his member. He was known for his dancing skills, no more, no less. He wanted to be more than that so he worked hard day and night to achieve his goals.
“I… I think for you to succeed, you must focus on yourself.” he says tentatively.
A frown appeared on Victoria’s face. “But how can I do that if the reason I want to improve is for my members.”
Taemin shook his head. “What I meant when I said that you should focus on yourself, is that you should not compare yourself with your other members but focus on being better than your previous self. If you compare yourself to others who are also working to improve themselves then you wouldn’t notice the changes you develop on yourself.”
“You might not notice it but you’ve improved a lot since you came here, noona. I can see that. I remember you can barely speak basic Korean words when you worked with us for our debut MV. But look at you now! Not only do you sing but you can even rap now! Even I can’t do that.”
Victoria giggles before leaning forward to hug the younger man. “Thank you, Taemin. You just know the right things to say. I made the right decision to come here.”
