Of an Owl and Crane
Just a little dialogue between two hatchmates. "Tae I love you, but if you speak about this to anyone I will break my oath and no one will find you." Owrlyn took a sip of her tea, having said that with a perfectly straight face after sharing another story with her visitor. A tall, lanky avian with bright Jade eyes blinked at her from across the table, and then threw his head back to laugh merrily. Slender, graceful wings of a crane shook behind him as he did so. "Oh my feathers! Lyn! /Lyn!/ You actually went on a date? And you didn't invite me??? For /shame!/" The crane chuckled when he had had his laugh, grinning playfully over to his owl double. "Pardon me if I didn't have time to write to you in the midst of this." Owrlyn spoke dismissively, Amber eyes looking away with a bored expression. Though, the little smile showing on her lips betrayed her amusement. Taevir clutched his heart dramatically, feigning a wounded look. "Lyn! You hurt me so! How could you forget your own hatchmate! Oh how painful this is! Could you ever heal my broken heart?" The healer glanced over, snorting and finally starting to laugh as she scooped up a rubber stopper to toss it at her hatchmate. Which, was caught as he made a cheeky grin. "I'm the wrong kind of person to ask for that Tae and you know it. Would it help if I let you stay the night? Goodness knows you probably haven't thought to reserve a room somewhere else." "Oh mother bless you and your heart of frozen warmth. I'd love to stay here again. It's like we're fledglings again! Especially with you and your eyes whose color was apparent from hatching!" Tae cackled as he caught the second stopper thrown at him, not even flinching at the withering look he received. "But do tell me, nest sister of mine, how was was your ever so short time of being outside? And why have you still not a Matesprit when you're such an adorable a- ack!" He reeled at the toss of a third stopper, this one hitting him straight on the nose. "Tae, flattery and lies will get you nowhere. If I don't have quadrants, it's simply because I'd rather not tell others if I like them. Surely, anyone would be better off with someone not me." Owrlyn huffed, firmly believing this to be true. She was, after all, practically a shut in. "Though it was... Nice, being out, and dressing in something else, I suppose. I'd rather never do that again, but it was a pleasant experience that I'm grateful I got to have." She smiled warmly, very pleased with having done at least one thing out of the ordinary. "How sweet you are when you're being honest about something. I almost want to thank this Shanae person because I haven't seen you this expressive in a long while! It's refreshing." "/Tae./" The crane laughed as he was given a glare that could kill and raised his hands up for mercy. "I won't! I won't! Avian's honor. Although speaking of others, how's the troublemaker and her partner in crimes of cuteness?" Taevir placed his elbow on the table, resting his head on his hand to listen to his sibling. "Eri? She's surprisingly okay here. I was a little worried because her matesprit is...." She made a face. "Unconventional. But, they seem good for each other, so I won't bother her. I swear, that idiot gets herself roped up in the most impossible situations." Owrlyn sighed, and then smiled again slightly. "Siwane is doing good though. I'm happy at least one child is safe from the flocks. Her tail won't be clipped here, and she's loved and cared for. She did have an accident that her wing earlier... But, it's reassuring to know that it was an accident, and that she can take her time learning. You know how the flight instructors always liked to be cruel to the fledglings that were a little slow... And being a purple blood she... well, needless to say, she's growing up to be a fine avian. This is the best possible place for her I think." "Lyn, Owl of my heart, you are so cute when you are worried about others." Owrlyn paused as Tae cooed those words in a teasing voice. She calmly placed her cup down, then took a sharp breath. "Taevir Venihi, for once in your soon to be shortened life, /shut. up./"
