Tag Ideas

Hey! So, uh, I've seen a couple people make tags on their profile for specific content, and I wanted to try to come up with some of my own to use! I'm not totally sure about some of them, or how to tag some other specific things, so, I was mostly making this post for feedback. So, here are the ideas:

#mama mia! - anything NSFW (not necessarily sexual, but that's mostly what this will be applied to, probably-)

#lotsa spaghetti - anything that specifically has gore

#it's-a NOT me - other peoples' posts (so, y'know, reblogs)

#it's-a me! - my own stuff

#*Italian intensifies* - off-topic ramblings (not related to any art or other works of mine/others)

#okie-dokie! - non-NSFW stuff

#that's amore - ship stuff (from when Mario sings it in 'Mario Teaches Typing 2')

#world -1 - spooky stuff (largely for when/if I post MX or other spooky Mario content here-)

#poison mushrooms - angst stuff (this is one of the ones I'm really not sure about-)

So, that's all I can think of so far, but, if anybody has ideas, I'm all ears! Also, if you have any feedback in general, that'd also be cool!

*Edit: changed the ship tag from #bada-bing-bada-boom to #that's amore. It's not quite as Mario-related, but I feel like it has a better ring to it, y'know? Unless you want me to keep that tag for the bit, then I will.

Megalist of Tropes and Themes to Tag Your Story With

If you’re prone to staring at your tags on AO3 wondering “what the hell do I put here?”, knowing you want to add a tag like “friends to lovers” or “found family” but not remembering all the popular tropes and themes everyone is into, this is for you. I basically spent an entire night on this so I hope it helps.

Notes:

I tried to keep it general and avoid really obscure tags no one would ever use.

This is made for AO3 and thus there’s a lot of fandom or fannish stuff in here.

I didn’t include any “inappropriate” tags. Feel free to make your own list.

Romance tropes and themes at the bottom. (Not all of them have to be romantic, but if they’re generally associated with romance and there are very few gen fics with that tag, it went there.)

The Stage is Set

The year is 272 BCE, and the world is about to turn on its head. The budding Republic of Rome, having conquered Italy, has fought a minor border dispute with Carthaginian forces in Sicily, which blossomed into a grinding war of attrition, leaving Sicily in chaos, and both nations fatigued and unsatisfied. This year, Carthaginian and Roman emissaries meet in a villa in Syracuse, overseen by an ambassador of Hiero, tyrant of Syracuse.

The Carthaginian begins “The Council on the Byrsa greets the Senate with all due respect, and is pleased that the Senate and People of Rome are willing to discuss terms of peace” Grimacing, the Roman nods slowly, “Rome has better places to spend her resources than on this…” he waves dismissively, “border dispute. You people can keep your claims to western Sicily, as you will.” The other man nods and responds, “Of course, there must be terms to our peace.” The Roman bristles, “We are not supplicants begging for an end to the war! You called for these talks first, remember!” The Carthaginian raises his hands defensively, and the Sicilian ambassador nervously glances at both men. The African calmly says “We met in Sicily because neither of us are surrendering. We merely wish to cease the fighting, and we want to discuss terms.” The Roman pauses, then grudgingly nods. He angrily spits out, “The Senate demands that Carthage vacate Hispania, Corsica, and Sardinia, and disarm all its fleets, save for five galleys.” The Sicilian ambassador looks shocked, and nearly nervous enough to have a heart attack. Curiously, the Carthaginian laughs. He shakes his head, saying, “Your Senate is too arrogant for its own good, sir. Carthage will cede not one of her holdings, nor will she disband a single soldier on the orders of the Senate. Carthage requests that Romans never carry arms to the island of Sicily, nor south of the Pyrenees, nor onto Carthaginian soil.” “It is agreed, so long as Carthaginians never carry arms north of the Pyrenees, nor onto the island of Sicily - save inside your city limits - nor onto Roman soil.” “Done.” “Are we finished?” “Not quite. The Council on the Byrsa requests that the Senate open free trade with the people of Carthage, to the benefit of both our peoples.” “Done.” “That is the last of my Council’s requests. Have you any more?” “No.” The Sicilian steps forward, and smiles, for the first time, saying “In that case, I believe we’re finished! Why don’t we all retire to my dining room and refresh ourselves?” The African nods and smiles, beginning to smile, but the Roman interrupts him, brushing past the Sicilian, gruffly claiming, “I will retire to my own rooms, as I need to wash the taste of this man’s company and the words we have spoken from my mouth. I return to the Senate with your terms on the morrow.” The Sicilian quavers and calls after him “I shall have the documents drawn up for you by then!” He seems to wilt, as though all the energy has left him. The African diplomat’s hand takes his arm solidly and he looks up to the smiling man. “I shall have dinner with you, if you still wish,” he said, and the Sicilian nodded slowly and led the man into the dining room, beginning to chatter about pleasantries and nothings.
