“You can ship tailgate with anybody” tailgates drawing by @tralma
werewolf gladiators au: tailgate/megatron
Oh my god oh my god oh my god I laughed at first but now I’m totally into it is Tailtron a ship can I ship that.
Megatron stared down at the tiny…thing incredulously, wondering how a runt like this could have possibly survived so long in any situation, not just here in the gladiatoral arenas. How could he be expected to use this
Sure, they were sickeningly cute, short and thick-furred, their tail half-curled and ears folded, signs of domestication if there were any, and they’d have made a fine pet or pleasure slave somewhere else, but here in the pits…it was no place for such a tiny thing.
“Ridiculous.” Megatron huffed, sniffing. He even smelled wrong, to be here. The white-furred fluffball was clean, like shampoo and mint leaves. “What am I supposed to do with you?” He growled, and the smaller beast shuffled, tail drooping, squirming with anticipation.
“That…that’s for you to decide, sir. I’m merely the gift, not a bearer of intention-”
“Can you fight?” Megatron snapped, interrupting the little runt and drawing a startled yelp from him. He looked up with pale blue eyes and, after a moment of silence, shook his head, glancing away. It was one thing to be a lowly cleaning servant, another to be casually given away to a gladiator as a halfway-thought gift! “Then you’re useless.”
Megatron turned and stalked back towards his quarters, not bothering to watch if the runt would follow him. Saddled with a useless gift- what good would another member of his crew be if he couldn’t fight? Wasted space in their sparse quarters, wasted food to keep the runt alive.
It wasn’t until a few weeks later that Megatron grew to appreciate the little fluffball, Tailgate being his name, when their space was cleaner than it had ever been, their armor shined to perfection, and the other Decepticon warriors groomed luxuriously. Even Megatron had let the little thing comb out his pale gray fur.
There were other perks, too, of course…but that wasn’t so much about appearance as more basic desires, Megatron licking his maw as he watched the bundle of white fur and energy picking up dropped armor and offerings, his little rump up in the air and tail wagging when he bent over.
What a wonderful gift he’d turned out to be.
