So, in case you ever wanted to learn more about Figaro, the main character of the Softboy universe's Tailwind Tales franchise, this Gravity Falls audio (from the short "Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained: Stan's Tattoo") should tell you all you need to know about his personality.

Note: The Tailwind Tales franchise is set during Figaro's childhood. In this clip, he'd be Soos's age. His personality didn't change much!

This week’s update is a really silly bit of world-building!

I realized we’ve seen a lot of Chris’s interests and hyperfixations, but not much from his friends. So I decided to provide a look into Lorrie’s bedroom to show off her favorite franchise: the Tailwind Tales universe.

Tailwind Tales started as an illustrated chapter book series before exploding into a beloved children’s franchise with a Saturday morning cartoon, huggable plushie merchandise, and even rumors of a future movie adaptation. Its main character- a bunny-lion hybrid boy named Figaro whose carnivore/herbivore-blended guts make him fart all the time- proved insanely popular with kids, and the books’ sweet, goofy sense of humor inspired a national upsurge in children’s motivation to read. Parents rolled their eyes at first, and still do, at the “potty humor”, but any parent who actually engages in children’s media with their children will quickly notice that this property isn’t afraid to touch on important real-world issues like prejudice, LGBT representation, health (both physical and mental), and learning to love yourself when the world decides it has a reason to dislike you. In terms of Tailwind Tales’s content, quality, and popularity, our closest real-world equivalent would be Dav Pilkey’s Captain Underpants series.

Lorrie got into Tailwind Tales ever since her moms read its books to her when she was a toddler. She quickly pushed Chris into reading and watching Tailwind Tales not long after they became best friends, and Chris quickly fell in love with it too. Makena is taking a little longer to come around to it, but spoiler alert: she’ll love it too. It only takes one book or  episode for people to realize how likable the series is. You just have to be able to stand the fart humor.

I don’t know how much this series will pop up in the Softboy comics, but its existence makes me very happy. Eagle-eyed readers may notice that Figaro has already existed for a while, and has already popped up in my work in very tiny ways.

I hope everyone remembers the in-universe children's media franchise Tailwind Tales, because I got another commission for its star Figaro! :3 I couldn't help it. Aside from Softboy, Figaro's my special little guy. Look at him, isn't he precious?

I promise one day, I'll share more content about what the Tailwind Tales cartoon/books are like, and what Chris loves so much about them.

Just wanted to take a break from the recent Chrisville Theater Society production to make a little Christmas post! Happy holidays to all!

Note: To those who don’t remember, Figaro is the main character of the Tailwind Tales franchise, which is a beloved children’s series about a rabbit-lion-hybrid beast who farts a lot. We haven’t seen that much of him or his series during this blog’s comics, but it’s at least clear that Softboy is one of the many people who thinks Figaro is super cool and would love to have him in Chrisville.

Notes: Softboy is, of course, watching an episode of the cartoon Tailwind Tales, the in-universe children's phenomenon. Also, like in previous installments, the "TV" for the residents of Chrisville is Chris's tablet.

Another busy week means another sketch!

Chris doesn't often beg for new toys, which makes it super unfair that his mom won't budge on this one plush toy he really REALLY wants. Just because it has a whoopie cushion in the tummy that makes it fart doesn't mean that it's dumb.
