I’m someone that, if I end up spending a lot of money on something, I use it until it craps out, even if I hate it. About 4 years ago I went to a new eye doctor and they didn’t have their own “store” that I had to buy glasses from, so for the first time in my life I was free to take my prescription wherever I wanted. I started with those online places everyone raves about, but they didn’t take insurance and most of the frames come in a set size, so any one I really liked it was never the correct bridge or arm length. Anyway, I ended up at Target. They took my insurance and they had some nice cheap frames. Somehow I got snowed, they added stuff I didn’t even ask for, and it cost me more, even with insurance, than I had EVER paid at my old eye doctor. So when the glasses came in and the screws never stayed tight and I called them my “garbage” glasses that wouldn’t even stay on my face, I was determined to keep them the full 2 years until my next eye appt was due. 2 years turned into over 3 bc of covid. I couldn’t bend over without them dropping off onto the ground. A part of the frame was completely cracked in half. They were the worst. So bad. Never go to target optical. Total rip-off. But I got my use out of them. Anyway, my mom treated me, a 45 yr old woman, to new glasses from Costco about 3 months ago. They’re perfect. They fit great. They’re blue. And I lost them in the goddamn ocean yesterday. Fuck.
