It would be like having Sansa really go all the way with being Littlefinger’s protege and also his lover. And I’m not saying that Arya should give up on being an assassin or that her character arc should be about her coming to Jesus or something. But having her be the most badass assassin ever is like…boring. It’s tragic that a child becomes a killer to survive after being massively traumatized. To give her a “happy end” in being a killer feels unworthy of her character.
See I think I disagree about where they’re heading with this - I felt like a lot of what we’ve seen (in particular the scenes of Tyrion & Varys struggling with how the Tarlys were killed) is there to underline that using violence to solve every situation isn’t the right plan. It’s happened before on the show, where using violence to achieve authority has gone immediately awry (Robb with Rickard Karstark, Theon with Rodrik Cassel, Daenarys with Mossador). So I don’t honestly think we’re supposed to be rooting for Arya or hoping she goes ahead and does what she’s threatening. Especially since she came off SO EERIE in that scene, while Sansa has mainly been portrayed as reasonable if sometimes too outspoken.
