Cyrax loves LEGO. Cyrax absolutely adores building LEGO sets, especially LEGO Technic sets.
She's always loved tinkering with everything, taking things apart, figuring them out and putting them back together. She more often than not messes with... hazardous materials, to the point that Takeda got scared she would seriously injure herself. So he started buying her LEGO sets so she could still keep her hands busy building things without having to fear she would slice a finger off.
Unfortunately for Takeda, Cyrax always somehow manages to "improve" her LEGO sets by turning them into exploding hazards. She's still extremely thankful for the gifts though!!

The way I really took one look at them and thought "haha they're both black and yellow and use tech, wouldn't they look cute together?" Add the Lin Kuei/Shirai Ryu dynamic and the fact that both escaped an evil organization to redeem themselves and do good. I immediately knew how to set them up in my AU!!
Although my very first thought was to ship them romantically, I wasn't exactly sure because as much as I love romance, I also crave a balance between platonic and romantic relationships. So I thought they could also just be a couple of besties or something. I was torn. However, the moment I saw Cyrax flirt with Takeda, any thoughts I had for a platonic relationship was thrown out of the window lmao. I'm a shipping enjoyer, I see a cool girl confidently flirt with a flustered boy, I would die for them. 😩❤️
