Takorea, Atlanta, GA
I'm back and in Atlanta for 3 nights!! Have been away from blogging so figured this would get my mind back into it. Going to try to vlog every place that I go in Atlanta while I'm in Atlanta!! I have never done that before. Let's start with Takorea, a Mexican, Korean fusion restaurant in midtown Atlanta! I didn't have a place in mind for lunch when I landed so on the Marta I started doing a search in midtown. I have been to Atlanta before but not in quite a few years. I hadn't really had breakfast so I was hungry but I didn't want to eat too much either or I would want to sleep all afternoon. Takorea sounded unique and it was both reasonable and close by. It was about a 10 minute walk from the midtown stop in the Marta. I liked the rustic, friendly feel of the place. I decided to grab a bar stools once I was alone. The hostess was friendly and the bartender greeted me quickly as well. I have been fighting a cold so just water for me, at least for lunch. The menu was fairly simple with korean touches on Mexican food and vice versa. It was taco Tuesday so I chose 3 different tacos, korean bbq pork, KFC, which is Korean fried chicken and fried shrimp. I added a side of their house napa kimchi to make my tacos spicier and a little more Korean. The food came very quickly and though it seemed small, it was plenty of food. All 3 tacos were very good, with the bbq pork being my least favorite. I liked the flavor but the pork was a little saucy and didn't go too well with the kimchi. It was still good, just not my favorite. The fried shrimp and chicken were both excellent amd the kimchi was a great match for both of them! For 3 smallish tacos, I was surprised how full I was afterwards. An added bonus was taco Tuesday, all tacos were only 2 bucks!! My lunch was less than 10 bucks total, in was full and happy!! Takorea was a big hit for me!! Hreat food, friendly service and very inexpensive as well. Highest recommendation for this interesting place. If I were staying in this area another day or 2, I might even go back a second time to try a few other of their taco options. Definitely get yourself over to Takorea the next time you are in Atlanta. You'll be happy that you did!! Have a great day!!
