Author Gay Talese won't promote 'The Voyeur's Motel' amid credibility questions
In a dramatic statement that's likely to send shock waves rippling from the publishing world to Hollywood, noted author Gay Talese has disavowed his upcoming nonfiction book, "The Voyeur's Motel." Talese says he will not promote the book after questions were raised about the credibility of its main source, Gerald Foos, the subject of the book who allegedly spied on guests at his Colorado motel from the 1960s to the 1990s. Property records show that Foos sold the motel in 1980 and reacquired it in 1988. That gap raised doubt about what Foos told Talese.
How dare I promote it when its credibility is down the toilet?

"The Voyeur's Motel" is scheduled to be published by Grove Press. It was excerpted in April by the New Yorker, and the creepy tale immediately caused a sensation. DreamWorks snapped up the property, with plans for Sam Mendes to direct a film version produced by Mendes and Steven Spielberg. One of the fathers of the new journalism movement during the 1960s, Talese has prided himself on his heavily researched nonfiction.

Gay Talese’s Address Book
Renowned journalist Gay Talese has been documenting every personal encounter, ever face-to-face since 1950. The only commonality between all these people is Talese. He’s at the center of his own network, he’s the heart of this address book.
A name, an address, a number isn't what will help you remember all the people you meet. It’s they way you choose to remember. It’s the extra details on paper, the mental notes that will be engraved in your memory.
As Talese says "Our life is a continuous relationship of changing personalities including our own." This address book is not about contact information it’s about how we choose to remember. It’s about the way we document those continuous relationships.
Cuando la gente construye un puente, un rascacielos, un camino, hay muchas historias.
