I've done a couple of fun events the past two weeks. The first was at Arbor Brewing, the pioneering Bangalore microbrewery. It was fun to change things up with a tasting in a casual microbrewery atmosphere. Gaurav aka @indiabrew , Hollis and I sat down a few weeks before, trying to figure out a fun event pairing beer and whisky. We tasted quite a few pairings, but wanted to really challenge ourselves and push the flavour envelope. This led to us deciding to pair an IPA with 6 different whiskies. The challenge here was to not only find whiskies that stand up to the hoppy, citric, tropical fruit and grapefruit punchiness of the IPA, but also complement or extend the flavours. It ended up being a fun and interactive event with guests learning about IPAs, different whiskies and the plethora of possibilities when it comes to pairing beer and whiskies.
