I completely agree! One of the best things about the Tales Series, from what I’ve seen, is that every character has some type of depth. Ivar is just a shining example of it!

The incessant rocking was doing nothing for him, but the storm was like an extra kick to the gut. He sat in the corner, moaning, as if doing so would help the situation resolve itself (it didn’t.)Hearing quiet footsteps, he looked up, momentarily distracted from his own self-pity. There was a girl walking by, one he didn’t know (as if Lady Milla would be here; that was wishful thinking. If only he could see her one last time before he passed on forever), so he let his head droop back down in misery."I wouldn’t come any closer if I were you……….."

The night hadn’t particularly gone how Ivar would have planned it. How had he known that he would bump into the phony, of all people, just as a serious crime was taking place? Flopping down angrily into the corner of the cell, Ivar recounted the misfortunes of this awful day. He’d been walking for hours, stuck on a wild on a wild goose chase.

Literally. There was a wild goose pestering the village. Of course, it was his job to protect it, so he went to persuade or otherwise remove the creature. Infuriatingly, it fled, and he’d been trudging through the countryside for who knows long chasing after it before hitting the city. It just so happened that he’d overheard people saying they’d seen a horrible looking goose come that way, so he’d gone in search. That was, of course, when he ran into HIM, and all of this awful mess started.
