it’s just so flattering to receive commendations and good words from my patients. Some of them even gave me food to eat for lunch...yehey. lol. Perks of being a hard working nurse...=)

Pharmacology

2 days ago, i had a healthy argument with my NOD's regarding Pharmacology... I got shocked to hear them saying SUBLINGUAL route of drug administration is faster than Intravenous route...what the heck were they thinking? Our topic was about glutathione, sigh...of course i told them about my opinion and said that IV administration is more faster than anything else. i gave them my rationale. IV drugs goes directly to the blood vessels and circulates around the human body unlike in sub-lingual, the drug will have to pass through to capillaries before it will go to venous blood stream...

They didn't believe me....they keep on telling me that one of my Nurse on Duties is right because she has a boyfriend who is a doctor. well i bet your boyfriend doctor has to study pharmacology again. sigh... being the youngest and the newbie in the team doesn't mean i'm less knowledgeable than them..hmmmppp...what a disappointment.

Teach thy ignorant...

Sometimes, we need to teach thy ignorant for the sake of our patients... It's not about who's superior or inferior among the two of you. lol. It's helping each other. 

So lately, I've been teaching 4th year med students or medical clerks on some things that they don't really know about especially when it comes to skills. I don't know why am i doing this but i see the need that there must be someone to look out for them since their superior is always busy and doesn't care most of the time.

I felt hesitant at first to butt in my self whenever they do some simple procedures since they are not really doing it right based on my experience and judgement. I understand that it's their FIRST clinical exposure (surprising -_-) and they are still trying to grasp everything in the dark. Hope these kids or the future doctors of the next generations would become the best doctor someday....wish them all a GOOD luck and Happy Graduation to some of them too. =)

As a Nurse, we are the patient's advocate. we work in a collaborative field. Might as well help other health care professionals to avoid problems and to deliver quality health care service. =)
