10 years ago today, the 23-year civil war came to an end. more than 50 000 Tamils were killed, over hundreds of thousands of Tamils are STILL missing today. This genocide against Tamil people was extremely brutal, and disgusting. Hospitals were bombed. No fire zones attacked. White phosphorus. Burning Tamils' homes. Hiding in bunkers. Running from city to city not knowing who you would see and who you wouldn't. Men and women sexually abused by the Sri Lankan army. For 23 years this happened. But this wasn't the only thing that Tamils had to survive. Before this Tamils experienced inequality. They weren't given the equal rights, such as equal opportunity for placement in universities, job opportunities, etc. Tamils have survived more than most of us can understand. They have fought for things they should freely get. Sacrificed family and friends for freedom. To my Tamil people who have lost loved ones, who are still looking and hoping to find their loved ones, to those who have fought and died for us, we remember. 🐅🌹
