A young Tampines resident Bernice left her job in a fund management company in Dec 2019 to make a career switch. She enrolled in a IMDA programme to be converted to an ICT professional. Little did she know that COVID-19 would drastically change the employment situation when her programme ended in April this year. Yet she was obligated to find a tech job, or else she would have to return the government subsidy for the course. Fortunately, she landed a job at a high-growth tech company within a month.
