Dark feline
Dark Feline was assembled on January 15th, 21XX, on an assembly line at PuraimaruWōriā KK in Azabu, Japan. For the first six months of her life, she underwent vigorous training, becoming a justice driven and excellent combatant. Upon her finishing ceremony on July 21st, 21XX, she made a plan to work her way up to becoming a truly successful combat reploid. She decided to start small at the most expensive hotel in the city: the Grand Azabu Hotel, and become a guard for the richest suite, being interviewed, tested and hired on July 26th, becoming one of the security guards for the exclusive VIP Guests. On the 30th, she became acquainted with two of her new coworkers, Lace and Metal Canine, two former Maverick Hunters, and became close to them. She would train regularly with Lace and Metal Canine at a training gym, proving all three of them formidable fighters. Multiple times, Maverick Hunters who came to take care of the rest would congratulate her, as well as her coworkers, and offer her a position as a hunter, in which she would decline, as she wanted to work her way up with her co-workers first. She worked at the hotel for a year, before a particular event gave her a new opportunity.
During a particular Maverick attack on August 1st, 21XX, she had saved a famous ice sculptor named Valorie. Filled with gratitude, she thanked her and offered friendship to her, as well as getting her and her co-workers a position at a museum she displayed her sculptures in. Finding this a logical way of properly working themselves up to a more extreme combat career, she agreed, and got Lace and Metal Canine on board. At the Museum of Contemporary Arts, on August 10th, she and her co-workers met Tangle Bonsai, a reploid also working his way up to a grander position. She became best friends with Valorie very quickly. Valorie encouraged Feline to take up painting as a hobby. She taught Feline some social skills and manners, and she taught Valorie self-defense. She worked at the museum with Lace, Metal Canine, and Tangle Bonsai for a year and a half.
One day, on September 20th, 21XX, she saved a scientist named Merit from a Maverick Attack. Eternally grateful, he offered her a job at Tyson-Kato Laboratory. However, she refused, unless he offered the position to her friends as well, in which she agreed. They began working there on September 23rd, 21XX. There, they met Nathan Tyson-Kato, their new employer, and his creation, Split Mushroom, the admin of the laboratory. At first, they were confused by his childlikeness.
However, they came to accept him anyways, and as he interacted with them, he became an endearing little brother or nephew figure of sorts, especially to Dark Feline. They became close to him, save for reploids such as Metal Canine and Sam. They also became close with Sam, a mentally unstable, but friendly at the time, reploid, who was secretly struggling with drug addiction. Dark Feline was one of Split Mushroom’s favorites, and would frequently be invited by him to play action figures, pretend hero or watch cartoons with him on break, along with Tangle Bonsai, also being one of his favorites.
Dark became close with Merit as she did Valorie, and spent time with him. Merit would frequently teach her things during her time as a guard.
She worked at the bio lab for almost two years, becoming even closer to her new friends.
However, on March 6th, 21XX, Tyson-Kato Labs was investigated by the authorities on the basis of dangerous experimentation involving plants, machinery and even unethical experimentation on animals, and on reploids, though the latter was consensual and volunteer based. This was after an incident where a mutation involving a reploid, plant and the Sigma virus had escaped in Tsukuba. In response, the authorities shut down the laboratory, leaving everyone out of jobs.
Since Split Mushroom was coded to be a child, as well as the fact that Nathan found it too daunting to keep Split with him full time and actively care for him, as well as the fact that he saw no user for him elsewhere, decided to have him scrapped, but kept it private from his employees, only stating he was giving him to the care of other employees, and that no contact with him was possible for safety reasons. The group had their doubts, knowing something was off. Dark had an especially bad feeling and slowly began to fret for Split Mushroom’s safety. Merit had the same feeling as well. On March 28th, 21XX, the day he was taken by the lab assistants before the guards were let go, they all said their final goodbyes. As she turned to leave however, she confronted the idea of what could possibly be happening and was about to run after him as he was being led away, but was pulled back by her friends and some of the remaining staff. She left the facility with her coworker.
Five days later, it was revealed that Split Mushroom had been decommissioned, sending her, Lace, Tangle Bonsai and Merit into mourning. She spent two weeks grieving while struggling to figure out her next plan.
One day, however, on April 11th, 21XX, she, Sam, Lace, Metal Canine and Tangle Bonsai all received an email from Thompson KK, inviting them to an interview to work at the recently built Soyada Prison. Deciding that such a major area, with the vital purpose of keeping Mavericks not deemed dangerous or elephantine enough to be decommissioned, was a brilliant next step before finally going into a more well-known and major organization, she agreed on going, but bemoaned the reality that it’d mean moving to Soyada, away from Valorie and Merit. In spite of their feelings, they both encouraged her to go with them, and they made an agreement to speak to each other online.
She went into her interview on April 29th, first answering questions, then demonstrating her skills, getting an 89%. After her potential employers told her it could be fixed with rigorous training, the two offered condolences for her losing her previous job. She proceeded to express her more prevalent grief over Split Mushroom, in which they proceeded to comfort her, and acted as if they understood her, causing her to finally break down in front of them. She decided she decided to take the offer, and was hired on May 3rd, 21XX. She began training on May 8th, having spent hours doing so, and finally achieving a 100%.
On May 12th, she and her friends finally met the other reploids working there, and became acquainted with Vex, Amethyst and Sharp Porcupine, with Feline becoming close with the former and the latter. They were seated in a small theater to watch an introduction video, but she, along with her coworkers, were met with whiplash as the video told them that their sole purposes were to serve humans. Before they could protest, however, they were asked to remain seated in the room, as they were combat reploids, while the others went to various designated rooms to receive specific instructions. Another reploid told them their jobs and gave them permission to enact force on the prisoners, as they saw it as an act of “justice”.
Dark Feline, after they had been dismissed and told to prepare for the next morning, inquired to her new bosses if what they said was a personal belief or if it would impact their lives outside of work. Thankfully, they stated it as the former and that it would not be affecting their lives outside of the prison facility. However, they took her aside, and disclosed to her, that in their opinions, reploids having the exact freedom as humans was one of the leading causes of Maverick attacks, and that certain things, such as reploid suffrage, their right to change to different types of careers, and the breaking of reploid stereotypes, was the worst thing to happen to the United Nations. However, Maria said she hoped she’d respect their opinion, as they respected hers, and they were happy to have her here. Not wishing to offend them, she stated that she did, then thanked them and left.
She found great pride in her job and even caught a criminal who had attempted to escape before being processed as a prisoner and was congratulated. She became close with her new coworkers save for Amethyst, Amy and Cortex. She would have pleasant and detailed conversations with Vex, discussing things such as their careers, their past lives before joining, their mixed emotions on their employers’ beliefs, and their goal of aiding in the fight against Maverick behavior, among other things, and she would invite him to hang out with the others, or to one of the cafes to talk to him. She also became close to Sharp Porcupine, and they bonded over their knowledge of biology, struggles with grief, a small amount of video games, manga, and the same things she and Vex bonded over. Sharp taught her how to use power tools Merit hadn’t taught her how to use yet and how to fix complicated tech, and Dark Feline taught her how to defend herself. She also became distant from Metal Canine.
As time went on, however, Maria and Rudy kept subtly pushing their beliefs on her, either through small comments, sending her footage of Maverick attacks, and inviting her to listen to the same things they listened to, Due to them secretly having Cortex use an invention of his to single out content they didn’t agree with, she wasn't able to refute them except through library based literature, but they arguments against her, she and she started to become mixed.
One day, after catching a criminal, Maria pointed out she was allowed to go tougher on escapees, especially him, since he was an attempted killer, and pointed out that all illegal behavior harmed humans in some way, shape or form. And how even small crime ruins the lives of the vulnerable. Dark pondered this, and even applied it a few times on the prisoners, scolding them, shaming them and sometimes insulting them. They slowly started pushing more and more propaganda on them all.
One day, however, frustration got to her, and she took it too far, severely injuring one of the prisoners who had attempted to escape. After showering off the oil, she pondered her actions and went to ask her employers about it. However, as she got there, they immediately gifted to her a present, saying it was for preventing a Maverick from escaping and teaching him a lesson. She tried to explain her worry, but they kept on congratulating her. After some other loving comments, she eventually thanked them and walked off.
They would also do things, such as complain about the prisoners with their employers like friends and explain carnivore reploid facts to Dark Feline and Metal Canine, saying that they could essentially eat reploid meat and turn out fine, and were free to use animalistic traits in combat.
Then, one day, in the intake-release, a Maverick had managed to disguise a firearm, and shot her in the leg, as well as Bonsai in the chest and other guards as well and had to be yanked back by Metal Canine via his ferrokinesis. To her and the rest’s horror, Maria and Rudy chastised them, putting them down and threatening to fire them for their individual failures, telling them the safety of society rested solely in their hands. This left them determined to avoid failure at all costs.
They began to give Dark Feline night shifts, and sometimes weekend shifts, when she was planning on going out with friends, or doing a hobby night, or even just planning on having time to herself.
Then, one day, she went on her holophone, and found that she couldn’t text Valorie and Merit anymore, or at least they didn’t read or respond anymore. Fearing that it was due to her not seeing them anymore due to her job, they were too busy or downright sick of her, or worse, had been injured or deceased, she was left unable to sleep. Noticing her behavior, Maria pulled her aside and asked what was wrong. When she explained, Maria told her it was none of those things, but rather, it was because she was working at Soyada Prison. When Feline explained that they didn’t mind when she had informed them of working there before she moved, Maria responded that they very well could have researched their beliefs and goals, and turned against her, causing her to doubt.
They kept on showing her things over and over again, and Dark slowly started to believe them. She’d hear them out on something, try to refute them, not have enough time, act cruel to prisoners, get rewarded, get shown something Maverick related and told an extreme, have a rare injury or failure and beg to let her keep her job, sometimes end up with the night or weekend shift, which became more often and start all over again. She became anxious, unsure and depressed, and slowly stopped doing her old hobbies, such as painting, though she still practiced her contortionism.
Finally, Dark began to assimilate into Maria and Rudy’s belief system, believing society had gone awry due to reploids having too much freedom.
Soon, Dark was tasked with taking criminals into the Laboratory Wing for “examination”. At first, she performed this task without question. Eventually, however, she got curious, and that’s how she found out they were being experimented on. Maria and Rudy scorned her, and she begged them to let her keep her job. They used this as an opportunity to explain their logic, that these were horrific Mavericks being punished, and then used for a greater purpose. They offered to keep her and her friends there and not release any information about their mistakes, if she kept on escorting prisoners to the laboratory. She gave in and continued. She slowly began to give in fully to their beliefs, succumbing to their logic and becoming increasingly loyal.
After some time, there was a shortage of e-cans, and when Metal Canine pointed it out, they told him and Feline that they did, in fact, have e-cans, and took them into a room they had never been in before: a room of dead prisoners. They stated that there was still some energy storage left, and also that the corpses needed to be compactable as to be disposed of better for the reploids picking them up. That carnivore based animaloids were programmed to gain more energy from mechaniloids anyways, and it was okay since they weren’t human. In spite of her initial horror she complied anyway and became an addict over time.
By the time x3 was happening, Maria and Rudy showed their employees what had become of Dr. Doppler, and what he was doing under the influence of the virus. This was the final nail in the coffin for her, and from then on, became a willing soldier for Maria and Rudy.
