Sometimes I just think about both of Tango's 3rd Life deaths.

Killed by firing squad after choosing to play along, surrounded and cornered by the time he started to panic, far too late to regret his choice to hear what the angry mob wanted. Then, shot in the back by Ren while running for his life, slowly worn down but unable to stop long enough to heal. Able to see it coming, both times.

Terrified, both times.

Sometimes I just think about how Tango learned that it doesn't matter if he negotiates and trusts his enemies to be reasonable, or if he bolts and tries his hardest to survive the consequences. He gets a bad ending either way. His choice doesn't matter.

Comparatively, I don't spend a ton of time thinking about Tango when I think about 3rd Life. But when I do, I get a little sad.

#3rdlifesmp #tangotek #i feel like Tango in this situation is a bit of a narrative opposite to Impulse; in a way #Impulse is playing all sides while only really being on his own. he set up the situation from the beginning so he could choose #to end up with whoever could give him the most advantageous position in the final fight; and he did #Tango...#Tango also ended up trying to play all sides; but he did it in a way that thrust him in the way of everyone's plans and bloodlust #not staying in the background; not quite having the heart to spin half truths or the nerve to keep cool under the specific type of stress #that comes from being questioned and threatened on all sides at once #Tango was in control during Dare to Flare. that was something he knew; something he was the master of; a way he could turn fate #but i feel like since that stopped being a tool he could use; Tango's fate has repeatedly been decided by what *happens* to him #rather than what he does #he's been pulled around from side to side and threatened and killed and forced to choose based on who has which sword at his throat #allied with people who killed him and would do it again if he refused #pushed into that alliance by the fact that a completely different group of people who would kill him was at the door #killed by them anyway in spite of that alliance.....#he can't catch a break #Tango is on his red life because his choices don't matter anymore and the man just can't catch a break....#all there is to do is make good choices and then watch them not matter. because it's too late.#i wonder if his last life will be lost the same way....
