rp positivity meme! / ♥ — what’s the absolute best experience you’ve had in rp?
definitely my long lasting threads and plots with @povvertaken. i never expected to meet one of my dearest friends when i made daniel’s blog in 2013, much less someone who’s both my close friend and one of my favorite writing partners with some of the most fascinating, intricated, well-loved muses i’ve ever seen in the rp scene. writing alongside kit has been one of the most fulfilling roleplay experiences i’ve ever had, and having them back in the rp scene means that i’m never truly out of muse or the urge to write, especially with daniel chomping at the bit to be near jacob at all times. i’m not just proud of daniel/jacob as characters or as a ship but the development we’ve put into them and how they’re still going strong after 7 years, they really feel like soulmates to me :’) i could go more into how much i love kit ooc but this is about rp experiences and if i wax poetic about how wonderful and patient this fae prince is then we’ll be here all month <3 i love you kit !!

i hope i get a whole bunch of these so i can say nice things about as many people as possible!!! i’ll cheat and do two, because i can’t not say something nice about you sal: i didn’t know who tank girl was before your blog but now im enriched. i love the way you characterize her aesthetic, i love her casting, and i love how much you love her. also you crack me up ooc, lmao (i think being funny as hell may be required to write someone like tank girl)
i also have to say more nice things about @cheatdeaths because i love anyone who loves courier six like i do!! six is such a good unique take on the courier and i am big gay in love with her, shes one of those characters whose threads i read for fun because she’s just so fascinating. it can be hard to write a good protagonist character and make them feel enriching to read about, but six does that easily; she is one of my favorite couriers ever and i’m so happy i get to throw my stinky bastards at her :)

✮ Do you think you’ve improved as a writer through roleplaying?
i hope so!!
i look back on things sometimes to see how i wrote then vs. now. i think part of the struggle of creating is feeling like there is a prime we always want to go back to. sometimes i fear the more i write the worse it gets, but that’s not really how exercising works.
in summary, i would like to think so. i can’t say for certain, but all i know is that i have fun doing it. <3

i will never have enough kind words to talk about @wickedhertz. i absolutely adore nitro, from the ideas they have to their beautiful writing to their breathtaking art. nitro has always been supportive of me since day one and just? the softest sweetest person who is absolutely just a treasure to get to know!!!!!! as their writing partner, i feel like they have levelled up my writing in so many ways and the ideas we have come up with have all been so fun. as a friend, i am all the better for knowing them. kind and considerate and so well spoken. just an absolute treat.

A vertibird trails across the sky. It swoops down low, whipping the branches of trees as it scouts with a halfhearted nature that belies none of its deadliness. Most days, Quinn’s content to watch from afar, wait for it to fade away (and the trouble that followed it) before continuing on. Today, however, a source of trouble larger than a 15,000 kg vehicle of destruction happens to be right beside Quinn.
“Gonna take a wild guess here and just say something before you even try it -- that ain’t target practice, kid.”

‘ i’ll fight a tank , i don’t care . . . ’ there’s an attempt at confidence , boomerang ready in his grip , but slight whiff of uncertainty and , above all , confusion [ over the vehicle of her choice ] seep treacherously through his tone. you don’t see that every day. ‘ ----- y’ can ACTUALLY drive tha’ thing ? ’
" What’s going on with you ? and don’t tell me everything is alright because i saw you in there . you were crying like a baby. ”

🔥!!
send me a “ 🔥 ” for an unpopular opinion.
i like the karma system in fallout as a gameplay mechanic and as a use in overarching narratives for character. BUT i think karma as a concept is not very true to life in terms of characterization and can be limiting when it comes to rping. few people are truly good or evil, most are a nice grey area, and while that’s agreed on by a lot of people, we (me included) have trouble applying that concept to characters (or sometimes even real people). a character can be the antagonist but not a villain, or the protagonist but not a hero. characters can do bad things all their life and still be good. a person can do good things and still be evil. if all characters were strictly good and made no mistakes and did no harm, there’d be no conflict in a story. which is okay for some stories! some people don’t like conflict and prefer a softer narrative. but trying to slap every character ever created with a “good” or “bad” label just leads to polarizing characterization and a refusal to dive deeper into how a character is.*
also, the karma system is just wacky in general. why do you get bad karma for killing certain characters but not all? where’s the line? getting bad karma for a decision that seems to be good (like killing gob’s “boss” in fallout 3) can be really jarring, especially since there’s no explanation for the resulting drop or gain in karma. i like that there are varying names for levels of good and bad and i definitely use them for rping purposes, but they’re still kind of frustrating from a writing standpoint. also given that morality is subjective, it all ends up funky no matter which way you look at it. i wouldnt wanna abolish it because the reputation stuff is fun, but id rework it for sure.
*this said, i think there is a limit to this irl, but with characters im much more lenient since its only fiction. idgaf about a real life serial killer or their sad backstory, but a fictional one is serving a purpose to the story if that makes sense. i also think narratives can be harmful and criticism is important but thats a whole ‘nother can of worms.
