Is it a bit of a stretch to say I do think Takeo is a closeted gay? I mean, in the time period where Bo7 Takeo was from, which was feudal Japan, it was very common for there to be gay relationships and it was widely accepted in Japan(source is wikapedia.org)— He hasn't told anyone because he was scared of being shamed for being homosexual. Sure, it was common, but some people still got shamed for that lifestyle and he did not wish to be seen less than a strong warrior, a samurai that could lead and be strong and kill many oni.

When he meets the ex-requiem crew and they all start getting closer and growing bonds with each other, he keeps it to himself. That is the one secret he will not spill, even when his eyes linger on Dempsey and he could feel his chest ache with the want, the NEED for connection you see women have with men, even if he knows that would never happen...
