I hope this is okay to ask but, since taoae isn't continuing, I've been wondering for a while. Hyde started off as Jekyll but it was implied that that would change in some way, like Hyde would start gaining his own personality in some way. I was curious to how that happened and what the change looked like (Like, did Hyde gain full sentience? Or was it something else? Did they ever have a 'first conversation' with each other and what did that look like?)

HYDES ARC IS ACTUALLY THE ARC I WAS THE MOST EXCITED FOR HANDS DOWN! okay super long rant below

in the beggining Hyde would use the fact that he was Jekyll to taunt and Henry and mess with him...but as time went on he steadily begin to stop..as over time he slowly started questioning things. steadily he wanted to become his own person not just some stupid shadow- no no no. if he was Edward Hyde then he IS Edward Hyde MEANWHILE IN THE BACKGROUND: Jekyll is slowly developing as a person and coming to terms with the fact that he is human and has also made mistakes and also doesn't need to bottle everything away and its okay to ask for help. and these two arcs massively collide towards the end after the situation in which the two steadily begin reflecting in each others forms to the point where it becomes a problem- not to mention the sudden transformations. so Jekyll has locked himself up in his room. shorter. longer hair. sharp teeth. not really hyde- but most certainly not himself anymore. and he and Hyde start to talk. and he comes to terms with the fact that you know what... I know that I can be a bad person sometimes. and I am willing to change. I know that we are one in the same I'm ready to accept that. AND FOR ONCE HYDE IS ABSOLUTLY NOT LMAO hes like nO! NO! NONONO! you cant SAY THAT! because we are SO NOT! and this actually starts to surprise Henry a bit because what do you mean we're not the same person? you've been telling it to me nearly this whole time? I made you to be me? and Hyde gets to have his side of the story. about the slow identity crisis, about the enjoyment of having his own free will, about how he isn't just Henry's "you but bad ::(" NO! he is himself and he wants it to be that way and I you don't like it then suck it! henry takes a moment to process that and at first is opposed to it because it doesn't make sense to him considering Hyde is- just another side of himself. but eventually learns to get used to it and I did make it a point to reveild that TAOAE has a happy ending: for Henry and Hyde's case the duo learn to get used to each other more and its reflected both in their demeanor and physical appearance (Henry is a bit shorter, has Hyde's hair streaks and sort of length, fangs, and a bittt of orange in his eyes.) (Hyde has a bit of blue, is a little bit taller, and no longer has claws 😔) another part of Hyde's arc was hyde learning to deal with himself. funnily enough. the fact that he's so impulsive and hungry for destruction and constantly wanting to cause problems and have room to breathe. henry's not the only one to ask Hyde what's wrong with him but at some point he just breaks and tells him he doesn't know. he doesn't know why he's like this. he doesn't know why he constantly follows every impulse under the sun and has the constant need to destroy everything around him- he just. does. and he has too. and he doesn't know why. and sometimes he doesn't want to hurt everything it just happens and he doesn't know. what to do. and the truth about that is how the HJ7 works in TAOAE is that in the begining its like an empty glass. thats why its still Henry in the start. Hyde's form is like the empty glass. but the more time Henry spends in it: the more the glass gets full. and Henry is filling it up with his intentions and thoughts and what he wants the body to be of use for. if he instead used Hyde to be, idk, an idealized version of himself. then Hyde would have turned out completly different. but no. Hyde was built on the foundation of being his evil half. everything he repressed: all hi intrusive thoughts and impulses and everything he cant show in public. so therefore, that's how hyes brain works. and he has to learn to cope with it over time and it sucks sometimes. really sucks. especially when beforehand you didn't want to change at all. but Henry talks him into trying to be better after the two start getting on better terms.

Authors note: the art is old and makes me wanna die but I wanna talk about lanyon and jekyll's relationship more considering I lover their arc and I never got to it. Lanyon and Jekyll were friends through college and this friendship eventually developed into something more. however when things got more sensual- lanyons internalized homophobia kicked in h a r d. so he told Jekyll that this cant continue anymore but they can still be friends...however the tension of that night layed heavy between the two and so they never really talked and quite frankly avoided each other. that is until grabriel. who befriended them both. was like "hey...these two have mutual interests. I'm sure they'd love to know each other" anddddddddddd hense the trio is born. Gabriel is the glue that holds it together we love him <3 to talk more on Hyde and lanyon: Hyde loves to tease and toy around with him leaving lanyon baffled at how he knows so much despite them being absolute strangers- and also confused because a lot of what Hyde says is told through metephors here and there because this bitch just lovesssss being all sneaky and mysterious and shit. eventually though he gets to the point where teasing isn't enough- he and Jekyll get into an argument about Jekyll and lanyons past relationship and so Hyde begins to be passive aggressive with lanyon until it breaks into a fight. Hyde taking lanyons blind eye why the blind eye when...not counting the hole- wouldn't really affect him too much? because Jekyll doesn't want to hurt him.and Hyde doesn't want to horribly scar him. they still love him it's just complicated. during the fight though is when Jekyll tries to take back control- leaving Hyde to begin to partially transform before he gets away lettinglanyon. accidently see bits and pieces of Jekyll in him. the eyes. a bit of hair color coming through- teehee. after that whole ordeal Hyde and lanyon talk it out. lanyon explains that he knows and Hyde explains what's going on.. and Hyde apologies for the outburst and lanyon promises to be better. and then the two while not perfect and certainly not off to a good start- begin to slowly get better together and it begins to reflect on lanyon and jekyll again as well..its sweet I love em guyssssssssssssssss if you have any questions about the lore or story feel free to drop them in the box considering its a wrap folks! but there's still a lore more I love and would love to yap about.
