Written in Rock from Tao is my favorite Rick Springfield song still. It’s a close contender with many songs but I can’t get over the melody and the entire thematic mood established throughout the entire song.
I’ll never forget driving through the States in some highway surrounded by like mountains and this song never fails to bring me back there.
I think Rick Springfield excels in his third verses that he usually packs into his songs and Written in Rock is definitely no exception.
Many people only know him for Jessie’s Girl but please I implore you to check out some of his other works too, he’s a very talented musician and his albums are packed with emotion and themes surrounding his life that seem to trickle further and further throughout his discography, good stuff.
