The Berry Brothers, Ananias, Jimmy, and Warren, were a tap dance trio in the 1930s. They had been discovered by Duke Ellington and they joined him at New York's Cotton Club. They performed with Buck and Bubbles and even served as an opening act at the Radio City Music Hall. The Berry Brothers' acrobatic style and skills rivaled that of the #TapInspirations the Nicholas Brothers, and they routinely fought against them for supremacy in the New York scene. The Berrys were snakebitten, however; Ananias was plagued by injuries, and he died of a heart attack in 1951. Jimmy broke his hip while rehearsing for an appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, and was confined to a wheelchair. Warren, on the other hand, would continue to teach younger dancers after their careers. #TapInspiration #TapInspirationTuesday #TheBerryBrothers #AnaniasBerry #JimmyBerry #WarrenBerry #tapdance #tapdancer #tapdancers #tapdancetrio #taptrio #tappers #hoofers #tapdancing #teamtap #taplife #tapfam #tapfamily #taphistory #taplegends
