It is one thing to leap upon a dragon and quite another to bend him to your will, particularly a beast as old and fierce as the Black Dread. From the very start we have asked, “Where did Aerea take Balerion?” We should have been asking “Where did Balerion take Aerea?” I really wanted to finish this piece today and get started on Targaryen Thursdays/Targvember. I’m posting it early because after having no power for a week I have been itching to do some art. I am very happy with the result! If anyone is wondering why I elected to have one of Balerion’s horns broken off, that was just a design choice and absolutely not canon. I did it for another drawing of him back in 2016, and a lot of people really enjoyed the look, so I thought I’d bring it back! Poor, poor Aerea. What a little badass though, jumping on the back of Balerion!!! and even though she met a terrible fate I am so curious about what she saw while in Valyria!!!! I hope someday we’ll find out.
