An in-depth journey through the cards, covering both the Major and Minor Arcana alongside a wonderful section on conducting readings. I always learn something new whenever I dip into this! A really interesting and enjoyable read.
2) The New Tarot Handbook ~ Rachel Pollack
This is my go-to guide to have on hand if I’m in need of a quick card reference. Pollack’s writing is brilliant, and her insights on the cards are always interesting and illuminating. Written after 78 Degrees, this guide compliments her other work nicely, adding further ideas to the tarot mix.
3) Learning The Tarot ~ Joan Bunning
I’m a huge fan of the exercises and tasks Bunning includes throughout her beginner’s course, and the key word charts she includes make handy print-outs for speedy learning.
4) Tarot Spreads: Layouts & Techniques to Empower Your Readings ~ Barbara Moore
This is THE book for spread creation. Containing a wealth of Moore’s personal spreads and guidance on how to go about designing your own, I’m always dipping into this for inspiration.

A brilliant online reference hub, Biddy’s tarot card interpretation pages are packed with information for both upright and reversed card meanings. She also writes insightful, interesting content on a wide range of tarot topics.
6) Easy Tarot (book and card set) ~ Josephine Ellershaw and Ciro Marchetti
The first tarot deck and book I purchased, this set is great for giving beginner’s a solid understanding of the cards. I particularly love Ellershaw’s court card descriptions as they really help pin point the differences between the members of the court card family. Marchetti’s Gilded Tarot deck is beautiful and a great set of cards to learn with.
7) Easy Tarot Reading: The Process Revealed in Ten True Readings ~ Josephine Ellershaw
I found Ellershaw’s step by step guide to real readings an invaluable resource when I first started reading for others, and it’s still a guide I flick through now. If you’re keen to gain an insight into how a professional reader weaves together a reading, definitely give this a go.

I’m still new to blending tarot with astrology but Kenner’s how-to guide is helping me on my way! With astrological associations per card and plenty more content besides, I can tell this is going to help add a new edge to my readings. I can’t wait to learn more!

Oh my, I LOVE this book! Matzner provides an array of awesome ideas for using tarot as a therapeutic tool, a particular interest of mine. This is all about encouraging a personal approach to the imagery on the cards in order to support wellbeing and mental health.
