I swear. I need to stop drawing this girl. I don't pick favorites or anything (to do so would be blasphemy and sin), but the artistic-odds have been consistently in her favor. (Coincedentially she's the main character so I think there's something going on there)
Am I mad? ...No, I love her design - Which is exactly why I gave her a proper ref sheet! I do have a lineup with her and all the other main characters from her story, but I've grown spiteful of the anatomy on it (DAMN YOU HANDS!!) plus some of them have gone through design changes. So, this is actually part 1 of 7 (maybe even more) (don't count on it though) of me making ref sheets for a bunch of my OCs!
Okay, enough of me talking. Notes time!
This is a really specific change I made, but I vastly changed her face shape from the square shape shown in my older drawings to an oval shape. Although I liked the square shape in the older drawings, I realized that it didn't look as good from a straight on angle.
So she has a hooked nose. This is a trait I love giving characters and have been protective of (I know it sounds crazy to be protective of a nose, but if you were there for the That's Not My Neighbor nose massacre of '24 you would know why. Justice for Francis 💔 ) so I wanted to make sure that I drew it accurately. So there was a short moment where I was bugging myself over not drawing it right from the front angle. Then I remembered. I have a hooked nose. I can just look in the mirror for a reference.
The specific scales she has are based off those of a komodo dragon! They're her favorite animal (besides dragons but those don't exist) (Though they might in her universe. I dunno.)
Her outfit takes the slightest influence from punk and biker outfits and boy oh boy, I have a reason. Something something it's a form of irony for a character how is obsessed with complying to societal norms and general rules to dress in an aesthetic associated with being rebellious.
The cuff on her left arm is actually a completely new addition to her outfit. (Really nerdy territory here, beware) I noticed that her design was lacking from a visual storytelling standpoint in regards to the setting her story takes place in. I needed someway to show that she lives in containment in a government facility (lore drop WOAH) so after struggling for a bit I opted for some kinda of cuff. They probably have some complex locking system but I'm not drawing that quiet yet.
The scars are also kind of a new addition (on the old design they were scattered scars on her arms and legs) where I decided to show that "living in government research facility" thing. So, those scars are in fact from surgery to check in on her health as well as observe her organs!! Not top surgery, sadly.
