VOCABULARY & PHRASING!

たしか（に）/ tashika (ni) もちろん / mochiron

Meaning: たしか（に） "indeed," "it is true that...," "it is for certain that...," "you are right that...," "now that you mention it, it is true that..." もちろん "of course," "as a matter of course," "there is no doubt (why should you question it?)" sort of nuance.

Usage 明日のパーチィにくる？ - Ashita no paatii ni kuru?　(Are you coming to the party tomorrow?) もちろん！ - Mochiron! (Of course!)

彼は、日本語はもちろん（のこと）、中国語もわかります。 - Kare wa, nihongo wa mochiron (no koto), chuugokugo mo wakarimasu. (He understands Chinese, not to mention Japanese.)

世界地図を見るとたしかに日本は小さい。 - Sekai chizu wo miru to, tashika ni nihon wa chiisai. (If we look at the world atlas, indeed Japan is small.) いわれて見ると、たしかにこの冬は寒い。 - Iwarete miru to, tashika ni kono fuyu wa samui. (Now that you mention it, indeed/it is true this winter is cold.)

トムをしっていますか？ - Tomu wo shitte imasu ka? (Do you know Tom?) Two possible answers with different meanings: もちろんしっています。 - Mochiron shitte imasu. (Of course I know him, why should I not?) たしかにしっています。 - Tashika ni shitte imasu. (I know him for sure./I am sure I know him.)

Ti faccio davvero tante congratulazioni. Anche io sono uscita/sto uscendo da anni con lo stesso problema e disturbi alimentari, ma ammetto che sono aiutata da già 3 anni. So che è dura, e sapere che hai fatto tutto da solo ti fa onore. Continua così.
