New Year, New Friend? II Closed Starter

New Year’s Eve was one of those days when you just didn’t want to be alone, and Mel was no exception. Whenever she spent that night alone she saw others having fun and laughing together and she envied them. So this year would be different. She looked up where they held open New Year’s Eve parties and found one in the Empire State Building. That’ll do she thought. The fact that it was fancy dress was just an added bonus. 

It was about nine in the evening and the party had already been going for hours. Mel had chosen a nice emerald green dress for herself and put her hair up into a nice waterfall braid. She was heading for the buffet table when she heard a crash somewhere in the room. She looked to see what had happened and in that short moment she managed to walk straight into someone. She stumbled a bit but manage to regain her balance. 

“I am so sorry, I did not mean to do that.” she quickly said to the dark haired woman she had walked into. “Are you alright?”

Jessica looked up at Avery from her glass. “I would say yes but I am not really the holiday type. Getting me in this sweater is the closest that you get to me.” She looked at the outfit that she was wearing and even if it was just a small holiday thing it would be too festive in Jess’s opinion.

I was born in 1919 and here I am in 2019 yet I'm not 100," Lana said softly, looking from the calendar to her friend with a small smile, "I'm never quite sure how to feel about it"
