i definitely think jonas is sad about the future and “creating” the portal...the only question i have then is how noah said it was a “boy” who stayed in the room next to him? ��

Noah said;

“Years ago, I was still a little boy. A stranger came to us. He looked as if he’d been in the war. Didn’t talk much.”

Noah was the little boy who he met the stranger and according to his description, it sounded like the stranger was truly traumatized -

“There was sadness in his eyes. The kind you sometimes see in those who want to die, but life won’t let them. He took a room in our house. The bedroom next to mine. And… Sometimes I heard him talk in his sleep. Confused words."

Young Jonas had gone through a lot at a very young age so it could be young Jonas but Noah could’ve said ‘young man’ or ‘boy’ but he said ‘stranger’ instead - and we know future/older Jonas was referred to in the series as the Stranger.

Although, I was thinking about it, too... It could be 2019 Jonas that Noah met and Noah was from the past... But I have to think more about it coz it brings up a lot of questions as I entertain that possibility. Was it Ulrich’s mother that remembered Noah and how he didn’t age at all through the years? I have to re-watch the series.
