Let me apologise before ranting because I’m going to ruin the mood but I’m feeling empty. Like I’ve lost the desire to do everything. I’m living everyday closed in my room studying and if i’m not on the desk studying I’m laying on the bed watching the rooftop. I lost the desire to go out or even take care of myself. Basically I feel tired from when I wake up to when I go to sleep.. I don’t even have the courage to say this to my friends here on Tumblr instead i’m here on anon -The Tattooed Anon
Baby :-( don’t apologize—I think it’s important for us as individuals, and for me as unofficial mom, to acknowledge our depression.
First off, I want to say thank you for saying something to me. That’s one of the hardest things to do, at least in my experience. Also, thank you for even writing this because, as I mentioned, this is a form of acknowledgement. That’s a step in the right direction to trying to bring some normalcy in to yourself.
Second, I know that it is an ongoing battle to bring yourself to do...anything. If there are moments where you feel even the smallest amount of desire to do anything, take advantage of it. Remember that even a small task is a victory.
Third, remember to talk kindly to yourself. This one seems like a no brainer, but you’d be surprised at how often we don’t do this. As I mentioned above, take advantage of doing even little tasks. Celebrate that—you woke up today? Amazing! You wrote this message and reached out? I’m proud of you, be proud of yourself too. Our inner voice is created from when we are children, or at least that’s how I perceive mine, so I often talk to myself like I’m a child when I’m feeling unmotivated from life.
Four, give yourself a fighting chance. Jim Carrey once said that if we don’t do what we can to alleviate our depression by giving ourselves fresh air and automatically default to depression, we aren’t giving ourselves a fighting chance. While fresh air and exercise are not a cure, and I’m definitely not saying that they are, they do help us produce the happy chemicals to our brain. Even a five minute walk outside can help kind of get us to start pulling us out of bed sometimes.
Five, do not be hard on yourself if you can’t do the above. I definitely can’t some days. It’s okay. Don’t be hard yourself for any reason at all right now—this downplays your depression and often makes us feel even worse about ourselves.
Six, remember that it is entirely okay to live for someone or something else. People will often tell you that you need to live for you, but I often find this hurting me more than helping me. When it comes to me, myself, and I, I don’t have a meaning for my own life. My meaning is my husband, my animals, my mom, my friends, and my followers that look to me to help them. I live and love for others. That’s okay.
Lastly, don’t be afraid or ashamed to seek help. I was for a long time afraid of therapy and speaking to doctors about this. I only wished I started therapy sooner.
Remember, I love you tattooed anon. I’m here to help in any way that I can.
