If you’ve been wondering why I’ve been abandoning Uta/Taya (Blue Song) for Taya/Ritsu (Blue Wave) lately, it’s because well…

First of all, ships change. Second of all, I still kind of ship Taya/Uta, but they’re actually not going to end up as the final outcome in Symphony Saga because Uta will discover she is aro!

Uta just always gave me aro vibes, similarly to Neru Akita, which is why I ended up having a headcanon that the two are both on the aromantic spectrum and I also don’t ship Neru much in romantic ships anymore.

Uta still has a crush and attachment (not necessarily romantic in nature) and immense love for Taya, and Taya has it for Uta. But they just don’t work together as a romantic couple.

Ritsu meanwhile had unrequited feelings for Taya since shortly after they met. Taya considered Ritsu a dear friend of his, perhaps thought he was attractive too at times, but hadn’t returned romantic feelings until after the break-up with Uta.

So TL;DR, in Symphony Saga, Taya and Uta date for a while. Uta discovers she is aromantic and they end the relationship but remain close friends. Taya then begins to date Ritsu who always had unrequited feelings for him. They form a close relationship and are the end pairing in the series.
