Chapter 2: She Loves You
January 12th, 1989
Alexa had been waiting for this day for so long, and it finally arrived. It was one of those beautiful days, the sun was shining, and it was very cold, as it always used to be at that time of year.
She loved it.
It was 4 pm, the temperature was around 9 degrees below zero, and the sky was completely clear.
She was headed for the small bench located in front of Lake Tyler, inside Hollister Park.
As she walked through the forest, she was wondering if it was worth it to endure so many feelings for one person. She was sure that it was, as long as that person had the same feelings for her.
But now she was feeling empty, which was a little weird because only a few hours ago, she swore that her soul was coming out of her body.
How is it that you can feel so calm after crying your eyes out about something that was killing you every single day?
Alexa, your soul also needs to rest, yours is absent right now, and that is why you feel nothing.
She had spent the whole night crying, but there were no marks on her beautiful face.
However, Mrs. Wyatt instantly detected that something was wrong with her when Alexa stopped at her coffee, as she used to do every day on her way to college.
Alexa didn't show up for any class that day.
Her professors weren't worried at all, as they knew it was her birthday, and given her intellectual abilities, missing a class day wouldn't affect her.
With this beautiful cold day, she most likely decided to take the day off, and enjoy a walk in the park, alone with herself.
Matthias, on the other hand, was really worried.
He was the main reason for every tear Alexa had shed the night before, and he knew it.
The second lecture of the day was starting, but Alexa was still absent from the classroom.
Matthias was struggling to control his desire to get on his bike and get as fast as possible to Alexa's house to tell her the truth.
Dude, I can't take it anymore, I'll see you later at my house - Matthias told Joshua - I'll try to look for her.
Don't worry - Joshua answered - I got here earlier than usual, and I passed by Mrs. Wyatt's coffee, she was there, and she was fine.

Joshua knew the whole story of Alexa and Matthias, quite a drama.
That's very normal between two people who love each other. Someone always ends up hurt and suffering.

He was about to open the door when Professor Cornelius' voice stopped him.

His mind was blank, and he didn't think he could invent a good excuse in a matter of seconds.
If he had run a little bit faster, he could have left without anyone noticing, Joshua would have managed to make up a good excuse for his absence.
Matthias turned around and took off his backpack.
His attempt to escape the class was so quick that he forgot his backpack was still open.
That was a stroke of luck for him.
Inside his backpack, he could see a small bottle of medicine.
Drusilla, of course!
Matthias was very clever, but he also had ADD.
Excuse me, Professor Cornelius, I seem to have forgotten to give the medicine to my sister this morning. If she doesn't take her pills, Mom will be furious.
That had been terrible for an excuse, but this time he was telling the truth.
