Sharing My Enthusiasm

Found out that my Tumblr blogs aren’t searchable. Alarming! Not that I intend for my rants to be broadcasted worldwide, but what’s the point I write posts which only I can view and read? *sigh* Might as well, go back to the traditional, old school journaling. Colorful pens and papers!

Anyway, I didn’t intend to vent out about not being searchable. Will figure out later. Am actually elated because of an answered prayer. Been asking God how am I going to use my gift in writing so I could hone it more. For the past years, I’ve stayed a safe distance from writing because of the low rates. I mean, writing is not “just” writing blah blahs. The brain works–finding better ways to word stories in a more creative way. No, I can’t afford to get some cents for an article. This is not arrogance. I am just firmly placing my price tag.

Yesterday was my day. I wasn’t even so elated about it. Doubtful, in fact. Was even having in mind I might just find myself in one of those networking seminars. Please don’t get me wrong. I’ve nothing against networking, insurance or whatever. Am simply not just into them. My turf is somewhere else...and that is writing--my first love. Since grade school, it is something I enjoy doing. Made me glad it did become an additional source of moolah for some time during my first few years in the corporate world. It served me well making wise use of my free time at work writing blogs and articles…and posting contents and comments on forums.

I admit, am not as good as the bloggers I look up to. Besides, am not well-travelled and I have not much experience in almost everything. Am more of a babe-in-the-woods who grew up and lives in the city. Ironic. Maybe simply declaring I am an Introvert will explain it all. So, with this fact considered, it is indeed a blessing to be offered a blogging gig. Am this thankful that I am writing my second post talking about this opportunity given to me.

I think it was Thursday or Friday (last week) when I received a private message on Facebook from a stranger. Though we have two friends in common, neither of the two are even in touch with me. They’re rather acquaintances. So it came as a surprise when a certain Jade offered me a writing gig. Was even doubtful about it. Like I was repelled thinking it could be another strategy to get me to attend a business proposal one-on-one talk. In situations like this, I pray. I seek for wise opinion. And who else has a better view of all that’s going on around the globe but God?

Wasn’t so convinced of showing up. But I sent my reply with a “yes, am interested.” Had to keep shrugging off the voices that yell negatives. Until Monday (yesterday) came. For whatever reason, there was no hesitation (nor laziness) felt like I usually feel whenever I am offered something by people I don’t know. I didn’t get up really early but I managed to fix myself early enough to be on time for the meeting. “Grabbed a Taxi” and successfully reached the place just on time.

I started to feel dizzy and lightheaded. I couldn’t understand my condition while I wait for the team to get ready for the presentation. By God’s grace I kept a good composure (hope they think the same way).

So they began discussing about the company and its aim…and I was served a nice snack. (I talked about the place and the food in My Green Room.) They presented to me the website they are finalizing. Twas almost ready and currently being tested. I hope to be of help in bringing progress to their purpose for the site they’re launching called, Tayo Na, which is the Filipino term for “let’s go.” I appreciate the noble cause of this upcoming cyber community, which caters to Filipinos around the globe, and with the aim to aid in elevating the economic status of the country.

Tayo Na acknowledges the facts telling about the Filipinos’ overwhelming presence and participation in the top social media sites. Which is why the masterminds behind this promising facility started brainstorming how our countrymen’s cyber presence can become worthwhile.

One of Tayo Na’s aims is to give a better sense of posting selfies, groupies, and others. It is quite obvious that Filipinos are fond of taking snaps of themselves and sharing them on social media sites. Tayo Na introduces a way for people to gain something from what they love doing by earning points from joining their “Selfie Contest”. So, for those who love posting their selfies, this is truly a good news. The points earned can be used to get rewards. Of course, since it is a contest, there will be a winner. Winners, actually, as there will be three. Announcement will be on December 29, 2015.
