Ik you’ve been vocal about timebomb fics and characterization gripes especially after S2

Idk if I even want to look at post S2 fics, I’ve just been sticking to authors I’m already familiar with. I was wondering if you had any recs from S1 (2021- early 2024) that you think nail their dynamic?

Hiya! I hope my criticism didn't come off as too whiny - there are so many amazing tb fics published recently, it's just that you have to hunt a bit more to find ones that get the dynamic right.

But for pre-s2 fics, My Boy Saviour is a staple in the fandom. Anything written by YourLocalPoultry is also great though their two best fics are unfinished *sobs* (I seem to remember they expressed interest in continuing them though!)

I saw your comment on chap 2 on Firelight for a Day and I couldn’t agree more. It’s frustrating when tb is just reduced to Ekko saving Jinx and unnironically being her saviour. He deserves to be taken care of and loved on too.

I was wondering if you had any fic recommendations since Jinx taking care of Ekko is far more rare than the reverse. I was thinking of making a collection but there really aren’t many. I can think of 4 and I wrote one of them…

Also the thing in your previous ask about being unhealthily upset over Jinx’s ending was a little too relatable lol

Heyyy I'm in the exact same boat right now. It's genuinely difficult to find fanfics where Ekko is the one being cared for which is a shame cause that boy has been through the wringer! He deserves to be coddled too!

The author of Firelight For A Day has a couple of other works that you should definitely read.

There's also this canon-divergent fic I can't remember the name of where Ekko gets properly injured trying to stop Jinx's attempts in episode 9 and she's forced to look after him. I'll try and find the link if you're interested.

This fic is very unusual and kinda painful to read but in a good way (the tags are hilarious). It's a season 2 canon divergent story where Ekko and Jinx hate hate each other, spew their cruelest inner thoughts, beat each other bloody and reluctantly patch each other up afterwards while fighting ghosts in an alternate universe.

What are you favourite TB fanfics?

Truth be told, I haven't read true blood fics for ages. I used to be an avid reader during the hiatus between season 2 and 3, and I remember reading lots of excellent fics during that time, both one shots and long stories, with very good plot and character development for Sookie and Eric. I can't recall the titles but makesmyheadspin and queen-haq were among my fav writers. I remember reading and enjoying The Arrangement by texanlady (I guess?) until it became too dark and colored with abusive undertones to suit me.

Overall i'm probably not the best person to make fic recs because, again, the ones I've read are mostly old and set pre-season 3 (Bill out of the picture and Sookie and Eric teaming up to solve a mystery is still my favourite premise for a fic, also because Club Dead is my fav book)

Now when I first ventured into TB fanfics, Tara/Sam and Tara/Jason were the ones I looked for, but I don’t remember any of those fics. Save Me and A Bit of Warmth do seem familiar.

In my saved favorites I know I have all of these Tara/Eric and Tara/Bill fics, it’s bee a long time since I read them tho. And I think I have one of these Tara/Alcide fics saved or maybe I do have both of them.

Anyway enjoy all of these fics, Dead End Friend, The Devil You Know, and You Know Why are all so memorable. I remember those fics lol. Damn them all for not being completed lol.
