“Ya ever been severely depressed, Agent Klein? If so, why, and how did ya handle it?”
The new medic, Dr. Elizabeth Riley, seemed to have a dozen questions beyond the scope of this impromptu ‘check-up’ as it had been called in the directive. Rumours abounded. That she was one of Coulson’s ‘special’ pets. That she wasn’t exactly human. That she’d talk your ear off if you let her. That she was nosier than the mother of a teenager on spring break.
On the outside, she looked fairly normal. Small. A little on the scrawny side. Clearly ethnic though what kind wasn’t immediately obvious. A whiff of an accent though her slow, measured words seemed to be holding it back. And surprisingly gentle little hands that were in the process of fitting his arm with a pressure cup. She smelled like somewhere tropical, standing less than six inches away from him and she tilted her head up, all wide green eyes and almost shy smile. “You don’ have t’ answer...that....of course. But I t...think...honesty is a good policy.”
