Nich, I am dying to hear your thoughts on Billy, I love him so much and almost never see any content with him

Also little did you know you have opened Pandora’s box. Billy is my favourite, my comfort character. I handmade a cosplay of him and I can talk about him for hours.

Okay. So the thing that made me interested in Billy/Paperboy in the first place is the fact that he is the only one of the ghosts that does not join in with the final call. My main theory for why this is is simple: he didn’t want to give The Grabber the satisfaction. What most people fail to grasp is that Billy is a deeply angry ghost, he just shows it in a different way to the more explicitly ragefull ghosts like Vance and Robin.

During his call with Finney you can see Billy move around with tense shoulders, his hands at his sides. His voice is a sharp hush, distinctly different from Bruce and Griffin, who sound almost detached from the situation throughout the majority of their call. Don’t get me wrong, Billy is also detached—he literally refuses to identify as anything other than a Paperboy, but still. Also during the line up of the ghosts when they stop Gwen in the rain, you can see Billy’s hands curled into fists at his sides—same as Vance.

Another hint at Billy’s anger is the fact that he shows the ability to move objects (the bottle) and interact with the real world (hanging up the phone by physically pushing the cradle with his finger). The movie implies that it is a ghost’s anger that allows them to move objects, as seen when Vance throws the bottles at Finney. Furthermore, Billy has a better hold of this power than Vance. While Vance is literally blown away, Billy plays idly with the bottle. I think that’s mainly due to the fact that Billy is, firstly, an older ghost and secondly has a different kind of anger. While Vance reacts with violence, Billy seethes. He stews quietly in his rage.

On a completely different topic: I am also fascinated by the fact that Billy’s dog did nothing to stop The Grabber. They just sat there, tail wagging. Chances are that this is just the dog’s actor being a very good boi, but I think it’s interesting. I’m not going into this further because it’s actually something I’m gonna explore in ‘And You Keep on Living’ sooooo. Spoilers!

The Ghost Boys and Finney would absolutely dominate paintball.

They would be in teams red is Robin, Finney, and Griffin. Blue is Vance, Bruce, and Paperboy!

Griffin would probably make paint bombs, and camouflage,

Vance and Robin would steamroll their way through the game,

Bruce would outrun everyone and their guns,

Finney would outsmart people with traps or use the environment to his advantage,

and I think Paperboy would be a very proficient sharpshooter mainly because I think his dad would take him hunting, and he would use anywhere high up as a vantage point.
