When the world talks back (a fan’s response)
When I first heard of TBYD, I thought it was just another one of those “good girl falls in love with a bad boy stories”. The title itself is an eye catcher for those who’s interested with stories with gangster theme. At first, I just read it out of curiosity, but the first scenes have really amazed me and kept me wanting for more. It was a very different feeling. I’m not much of a fan of reading teenage romantic stories, maybe because I’ve read so many stories that are too cliché. I mean, one can already predict how the story ends. But TBYD is different. It was one of the best I’ve ever read. The best in a sense that it will keep you wide awake at night just to wonder what’s going to happen next - and that next scene is just really so exciting because you’ve got to expect the unexpected. Oh, the author is so impressive, I believe no one could have written TBYD better.
TBYD – The beginning of obsession.
Even from the first scene, this book will definitely take you back to your teenage days – where love was fresh and the most magical feeling in the world. TBYD will make you fall in love all over again. You’ll get to experience one more time how sweet and painful it is to keep on fighting for love. TBYD will take you to a different world. You’ll get stuck in that world. And when you’re not reading, you’ll constantly wonder what happens next. So, you stay up late at night because you’re so obsessed and you just wanted to know how it ends. But you’ll end up unsatisfied because the ending doesn’t seem right. It just broke your heart. It stabbed you right through the heart and the only thing you want to do is to demand a sequel. But you just have to accept that there are stories like Shakespeare’s plays that enable to leave a mark, must end up breaking the hearts of its audience. And how TBYD ended was the most perfect tragic ending.
NTBG 1st half – Moments and everything in between.
It was such a relief when you read once you found out that there is a sequel. The ending had a purpose. NTBG is quite different from TBYD. If the 1st book will make you fall in love and daydream, this book will let you feel all the emotions – pain, anger, excitement, fear, or whatever it is that keeps you from being sane. The world is so much wider and smaller at the same time. All the characters were given the attention they needed. We get to know them more personally. I just love how the author defined all of her characters as if they really exist. And of course, I think the greatest impact of the book is when we fell in love with Red. From a supporting role in TBYD, he was given a spotlight in NTBG – a lead that readers would even supported him on being the other guy of the female lead. Yes, we fell in love with a Casanova – not only with his charms, but with his heart.
NTBG 2nd half – The fairytale ending.
Just when you thought everything is going well, the past comes back to haunt you. But then again, you can either let it build you or destroy you. Being dumped by someone you love so dearly is a real pain. But as they say, there’s always a rainbow after the rain. The last few chapters, I guess, are the scenes fans have been waiting for to happen. If TBYD would leave you crying, NTBG would leave you drowning – with tears of joy. But, you’ll be surprised again how it will leave you hanging because the ending might only be just the beginning.
WSTB – Still waiting for.
Honestly, at first, I think there’s no need for a third book because how book 2 finished off is just so heart warming. And hey, they ended up with their forever together vows – that’s how romantic stories commonly end. And come on, let’s just leave those “just married” couple with their happily ever after. But, when you come to think of it, there were topics in the book that were opened up but we never knew exactly what happened next or what happened behind their past. And I guess the third book is the author’s way of clearing things out – to keep our wandering minds from wondering. Even though we were already satisfied with Book two’s magical finale, we can never really be filled in once we knew that there is still another sequel to watch out for. Even if we already knew that the third book has been discontinued in wattpad, we still gave in to the temptation to read some of its first few chapters. But it’s okay. Let’s just read all over again the two books and who knows, the third book might already be in our doorstep.
I guess TBYD trilogy would make girls envy Samantha – not because of her imperfect perfect life or she is Timothy’s Miracle or wifey. Not even because she gets to marry TOP, the leader of Lucky 13 Gang. Or that how much a Casanova named Jared would love her as much as it could break his own heart. But, maybe because of how exciting her love story is. Isn’t it cool how talking back could lead you to your happily ever after?
