"Everyone else looks normal! Nobody else is a monster! So why the hell do I look like this?!"
Rus doesn't take the whole "your form is a reflection of what's inside your heart and mind" thing very well.

Rus... was a pain. I wanted to actually settle on a design for him that made sense, incorporated some Fossil Stallord horn, and just in general didn't make him look too... heroic, I guess. Because Rus isn't really a hero, he's the hero's younger brother who only helped with the aftermath. He doesn't have chainmail to protect himself, he just has an enchanted(?) crossbow and the occasional assistance from his brother.
there's so many notes on here but a lot of them are notes to myself or not entirely how things are gonna play out. The full-body of Rus is the most accurate one (I kept going back and updating it) outfit-wise.
The bottom of the horn is more chipped/cracked because when he was trying to remove it from the skull, all he had was a borrowed axe and trying to cut through bone is not easy. Horn's not that fragile either.
I might keep the eye marks from using the Shadow Crystal??? I just think it's fun
[I haven't entirely settled on if the crossbow is enchanted or if time passes differently(one in-game second is more like 3-5 real-world seconds), because being able to fire of 6 bolts in a second is impossible. There's also the automatic mode. So it might just be magic. Wouldn't be all that surprised.]

hey now that i've explained Tre's whole thing i can share this :)
Landon and Cent are buddies because Cent likes to curl up and hide in hoods and Landon doesn't mind
Despite being one of the oldest, Spirits will not hesitate to use Rus as a stepstool to see things better because short
And Tre in more casual attire because I can never decide what I'm doing with her pre-adventure clothes outside of "it's gonna kinda look like ren faire garb"

Time might already have Twilight as a descendant, but now he's got two. Rus might not be as much of a "hero" as his brother, but he's still got a heroic heart.
[I'm messing with Rus's design too, surprise! Also with this, now I've got colored drawings of all the main chain! It was nice using markers again after a while =)]
Name: Rus Nickname(s): Crossbow, Crosshair, Mr. Silence Age: 18+ Affiliation: Chain C, Ordon Province Race: Hylian
While Twilight was chosen to be the hero by the gods, he was never an only child. His younger twin brother, Rus, was also raised on a farm but was out of Ordon and nearly out of Hyrule as a whole during the events of Twilight Princess. He wasn't able to escape the Twilight entirely, but he doesn't remember much of what happened. He works alongside his brother in the aftermath to clean up the remaining monsters, learning what Link experienced and being there to support him as best he can.
Rus can't wield a sword to save his life. He depends entirely on his crossbow, but he's a good shot and cleaning out the monsters helped hone that further. He's got similar raw strength to his brother, but still usually loses in their wrestling matches.
Despite being adults, Twilight and Rus are still brothers. They still argue and mess with each other regularly, though they try to keep it out of sight from the kids. They don't always succeed. Twilight was the more outgoing of the two before going off on his adventure, though the time immediately following saw Rus taking that role instead. Rus doesn't see himself as withdrawn or secluded from others, just... quiet. He's usually not the type to go out of his way for conversation, but it's certainly something he's gotten better at.
Leadership doesn't come quite as naturally to Rus as it did to Twilight, but he's still respected more often than Shields is. It certainly helps that Rus is taller and doesn't make snide remarks about his teammates. Light-hearted jabs, yes, and finding those boundaries is still an ongoing struggle, but rude comments are off the table. A team that doesn't like each other is a lot harder to direct in a fight.
[designer's notes: yes i made Link's Crossbow Training and Twilight Princess two different characters. my canon now >:) Rus's name is sort of a diminutive/corruption of "Groose", as the stories say he was one of the three who helped found Hyrule. being Twilight's twin, he took a lot of design cues from there but changed them up. mirrored hair, opposite ends of the ears pierced, opposite colors on their belt-things, signs of adventure vs a common life, etc... He's got a bit more than just regular Ordonian clothes cause he did go out and kill monsters and such, but I might go back and emphasize the whole "didn't go on a life-changing adventure" thing. still want to incorporate at least some of a horn from the Fossil Stallord into his design.]
