Two Cultures Bam. Jesus Rodriguez West by Midwest Photography Jefferson @ 2nd St in Oakland, Ca The Bay Area Mural Festival happened in the Jack London Area of Oakland last month. 9 large scale murals were painted by local artists in this light warehouse mixed use area. There were a few hiccups that caused delays. It was a successful first run. We will be sprinkling in the murals this month in our posts. This first mural is a collaboration by Mike Bam Tyau and Jesus Rodriguez. The statues reflect two different cultures that have a broad influence in the Bay Area. Mike is a long time member of the TDK and was very active throughout the Bay Area. He worked with the Estria Battle in Oakland and now splits his time between the Hawaiian Islands where he is from and the Bay Area. He is currently working on a mural at Santana Row in the San Jose area. Jesus Rodroguez is a San Jose based artist. This is the first time we have seen his art.
